  1. I've been saying that Yost's ability to stick with and get the most out of marginal players is one of his best qualities and one of the main reasons we initially hired him, but it also is the one that many fans dislike the most about him and want him to be fired for. I don't think he just lavishes compliments on players or doesn't let them know that he expects more from them, but he just sticks with them in situations he probably shouldn't because he believes in them. It has only become a problem in the last 2 years as to where before if Ned was choosing between Ben Grieve or John Vander Wal to keep trotting out there no one really cared. But with the whole Menchkins platoon, Turnbow's struggles, the Aquino/Spurling experience, and so on Ned truly believed if he kept sending those guys out there they could contribute to the team just as he did with Scotty Po, Brady Clark, and Matt Wise back in the day, even though we had viable alternatives as to where back when Ned first took over we didn't. Ned's style of managing hasn't evolved as his team has, that's the main issue I think these days.
  2. UGH. I hate when that happens, that has been a glitch in this game for two years now. When that happens I just keep running whatever direction I would be running if I had the correct player (e.g. a pop up hit infront of the 2B and they give me Bill Hall I just run towards the third base dugout because that's the way I'd be breaking with Weeks) and the computer usually is intelligent enough to catch the ball or give me who I should have had in the first place.
  3. I got my hat from this game today. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The hat is actually pretty nice. Too bad it is a Braves hat and not a Brewers one. I've pretty much been cruising along in my season mode. I love playing in Houston with the predominantly right-handed Brewers, lots of HR opportunities. lol. It is too bad we don't play there full time. I do second the earlier notion that Prince is easier to hit HR's with than Braun, I actually have more HR's with Hart, too. I've hit one home run with Kendall and I don't think he'll ever even reach the warning track again. Craig Counsell has more home runs (2 to 1)!
  4. Provided no extenuating circumstances occur, I should be there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. The fairytale episode was pretty weak, I am glad there will be a final season at least.
  6. Hall hit a pop fly behind first base in fair territory, Kennedy, Duncan, and Ludwick all converged on it, but Kennedy had the best angle. When Kennedy went to catch the ball it popped out of his glove, he batted it in the air, batted it again, then dove at it, missed, and it bounced into the stands behind 1B.
  7. Too bad ESPN doesn't do the not top 10 anymore, Kennedy for sure would be a top play nominee. lol
  8. If I remember correctly Johnny Estrada tried to bring his pink bat to the plate with him the next game after Mothers Day when he played for Arizona a few years ago and the umpire made him change bats.
  9. Hopefully Billy can get going with the pink bat. Lets also hope for a good outing from gazpacho.
  10. That's a familiar sight, other than the fact it is usually us doing it, lol.
  11. Like Gabe Gross I was thinking that, but didn't feel like getting into an argument with people about it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif.
  12. This is a spot where it would be nice to have a power bat off the bench.
  13. Marlins got Rickrolled. Two hits in a row? Wow. lol
  14. The shousenegger picture needs to become an IGT staple when he comes in and squashes a rally, much like the Kapler beefcake HR picture.
  15. The question is how was that missed if it was a complete tear? The ACL Test I'm sure the trainer (roger caplinger or something is his name i think) has a wife and kids and is a nice guy, but being unable to diagnose a ACL tear between innings is a sign that he is not qualified to do his job. Things get missed sometimes, it happens. It doesn't make him an incompetent boob. I'm sure we don't know the complete extent of what they did between innings to check it out, but one of the #1 tell-tale signs of an ACL tear/sprain, the swelling, didn't show up until today. Everyone's body responds differently to injury.
  16. This stinks, but at the same time I don't really blame anyone. Yo said he was fine. The trainer obviously didn't feel any instability in the joint or I'm sure they'd have taken him out. Considering it was the 5th inning and our bullpen hasn't exactly been underworked, if Yo and the trainer said he could go, then let him go. This isn't football where he could come out for a play or two to make sure he's ok then go back in. It is a judgment call. This just goes to show Yo must have a pretty high pain tolerance, unless he was lying which is not cool. Maybe they should/could have taken him out when they noticed he was favoring the leg, but it isn't like the damage wasn't done at that point anyway.
  17. Thanks for the good times and several walk induced stomachaches and headaches, Derrick. I always believed Turnbow was a good guy, so it was tough to see him struggle as he often did, if we can sneak him to AAA hopefully he turns it around, and if not, hopefully the grass is greener on the other side for both parties.
  18. This was an awesome game to listen to at work. I have been designated Brewers guru so I have to keep all of my co-workers updated on the goings on, lol. Games like this really decrease productivity, though. LOL
  19. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o254/gjenkins05/yoyo2.jpg Get 'em Yo. Beating the Cubs is serious business. I'll be listening at work! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. I watched until the last out. Granted I had a friend over so the game didn't have our undivided attention, but it was still on. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Ah offense, how I have missed you.
