  1. No joke. Everyone should have saw this coming when the group that bought the Dodgers spent $2.3 billion, and the next closest was "only" $1.3 billion. It seems like they are spending money just to spend money at this point.
  2. Ain't that the truth.
  3. What's weird to me is that if McCutchen falls off a bit, he could still win the Batting Title. He'll finish with 501 AB's, and correct me if I'm wrong, you only need 503 to qualify. Giving him the other 0 for 2 should still keep him around .345
  4. He tested positive for testosterone.
  5. I thought that new deal was regional and specific to the Brewers, not having anything to do with any other team. It's MLB's national TV deals with TBS, FOX, and ESPN. The deals currently expire at the end of 2013, and the new deal is supposedly going to double from what it is now. From what I've read, this is one of the reason's some of the large contracts we see are being signed, the teams are already counting on the boost in revenue.
  6. In regards to the new TV deal, I thought I read on here or somewhere that it's going to give each team approx. $10-15 million more.
  7. I saw her the last home series but missed her name. Glad I got to see it tonight. Nice to have some eye candy on the broadcast. As pretty as Telly, Coshun, and Davey are, they just don't quite do it for me.
  8. I've always been on board with RRR and I know that he can't pitch for these guys, but the fact that he called in Loe and he couldn't throw a strike, then Ax is coming in when we have Henderson out there makes no sense to me. Honestly, send Henderson back down if this is how it's going to go. Don't subject him to the suckiness of the others in case it's catchy.
  9. Why bring in Loe? We bring up Henderson, so use him!! Ya know, they figured it out with Thornburg after a week: he's not a reliever, so why are we using him as one? Why can't they figure it out with Henderson? He's a closer and there is a save situation right now, why not use him????
  10. I would have made more of a statement if they DFA'd KRod.
  11. I don't know how at this point the clubhouse isn't falling apart with position players and the starting rotation against any reliever. How can anyone in that bullpen even show their face in their after games?
  12. Parra just struck out Ryan Howard with only 2 strikes. The count was 3-1, they called him out on the 2nd strike. Nobody picked up on it. I just rewound it and watched it again.
  13. A lot of people want the Brewers to just continually get the farm system better with draft picks and by trading away proven talent at the MLB level. Lets not forget that when the Brewers had the top farm system in the early to mid 2000's, they still needed to trade away some of that MiLB talent, to get MLB talent so they could get over the hump and make a run at the playoffs. I understand why the farm system needs to be good, I get all that. But it seems that some people will only be happy if the farm system is stocked with great MiLB players, but who knows what's going to happen at the MLB level. I'm perfectly fine with what DM traded away the last 4-5 years to get where the Brewers are today. Does is stink that there's not a ton on the farm now? Sure, but it'll get replenished one way or the other within 2-4 years(if the Brewers draft well). But the alternative is probably a team that is running on it's 30th year of not making the playoffs. And as much as some people believe that the Brewers are still in it or out of it this year, isn't this the 5th or 6th straight year that we're talking playoffs in MKE near the trade deadline, as opposed to the Packer training camp? Who would have ever thought THAT was possible 10-15 years ago.
  14. It was at the 13:29 mark of the audio. Carrol said it wasn't likely, just a distinct possibility. He also said that Hamilton will get a big number contract, and 99% of where he goes will be based on that, and the other 1% I think is where he's saying where he's comfortable. As much as I'd like to see Hamilton, there are too many reasons I don't think it happens. Age, contract length, issues in the past, and of course the #1 reason: money. In a couple years when Braun's contract really bumps up, they would likely have $40 million+ tied up in 2 position players if it happened. Granted, in a 3-4 years instead of the Brewers payroll only being $90-$100 million, it'll probably be in the $100-110 million range but you still need to be able to afford quality guys at the other positions. As much as we talk about younger guys that are controlled during pre-arbitration years and before they get the big contracts, you can only have so many of them. We talk about Scooter, Thornburg, Peralta, Shafer, etc., but who knows how good they'll turn out? They may need money to go find other guys and they'll need to pay them. I'm not looking to go back to the 90's and early 2000's where there are only a couple good players and our rotation has the likes of Jimmy Haynes, Jamie Wright, and Ruben Quevedo. With that said, DM: go get Josh Hamilton.
  15. Ax has pitched more than one inning on occasion. He only threw 6 pitches in the 5th.
  16. In honor of playing the Cardinals, here's the link to how Brandon Phillips feels about them and speaks for most of us as well. We've all seen it before, but it's still awesome. http://www.daytondailynews.com/o/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/cincinnatireds/entries/2010/08/09/before_we_dissect_the_chris.html
  17. I don't see the point in having a guy play 1st 4-5x a week, and then catch the rest of the time. I understand the thinking to keep Lucroy fresh, but then why not just make him the permanent 1B? Keep Maldonado as your everyday C and move Hart back to RF. Then you gotta figure out what to do with Gamel. The amount of different transactions Melvin is going to have to decide on from the trade deadline all the way up to next season to figure out who's playing and where they are playing on this team next year are going to be fascinating.
  18. I completely agree. I just hope that when Lucroy comes back and Maldonado's playing time surely diminishes, he can still do well spelling Lucroy every 4-5 days and in a PH role. If he can keep up his production for the most part till the end of the season, the Brewers could get back something that really helps this team next year if they trade him. I don't think Kottaras is on this team next year, and I wouldn't be surprised if Maldonado isn't either.
  19. With the way Green was used this year when he was with the club, as much as I'd like him to be a part of the future, I just don't think there's room for him anywhere for at least the next 2 years. I'm glad he's headed back to AAA to get everyday AB's instead of rotting on the bench, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is a move to showcase him and to be used in a trade to get bullpen help if the Brewers come out of the break hot, or used in the off-season to get some help.
  20. Just had a buddy at my house and showed him that. He's was laughing his butt off. I saw that for the first time about 4 or 5 years ago and it's still funny as h***. I love how guys keep trying to walk away and he keeps following them. Then to top it off: So who's pitching today? Classic!
