  1. Yeah, AM radio is a bleak landscape these days. A lot of the ESPN affiliates don't carry some of the live events, and every station chooses (football) talk over any other programming. If you're not in a team's local or on satellite, good luck. I miss the days when you could pick up Reds games from just about anywhere in the Midwest. I've found my subscription to the MLB app to very valuable to this point. I think I pay about $20 a year, but well worth it with our travel around Wisconsin(and walking my dog) in the sumemer. I don't ever have to worry if I can't find it on the radio.
  2. About 10 years ago my buddy was at Miller Park watching a game and down the row from him was a scout. He sent a pic to us. At about the same time, the TV broadcast was showing that scout. It was Ted Simmons. I texted back to my buddy who it was. He wondered if he should go say hi and eventually went over to him. He said TS was very nice. My buddy told him he belonged in the HoF. He said "thanks, maybe some day". I was shocked my buddy didn't recognize him because he's easily the biggest Brewer fan I know and a baseball savant for everything. So of course I played it that he was stupid that he didn't Simmons and I did. I never told him the only reason I knew was because of the TV broadcast.
  3. We were golfing and on the 5th hole I looked and saw they were down 5-1, turned it off. Checked on the 7th hole green and saw it was B9 with 2 on and 1 out on the app. 8th tee box we had to wait and I turned on the radio cuz why not? Listened to the walk to load the bases. Listened to Uek call the GS before we tee'd off. I'm sure someone thought one of us somehow just got a hole in one on a par 5 based off of our celebrating and screaming when he hit the GS.
  4. I always told my buddies that teams that have playoff hopes don't have guys like JP on the roster. I was absolutely incorrect. He's played well and has been a cog that has held a lot of this together the last 2 months. Glad I was wrong.
  5. Obviously, the odds are in favor of the Brewers winning the division, but I'd be a bit more comfortable saying it's a lock when the magic number is 1 and there are like 15 games to play. If this was a team that was driven by average pitching but great hitting I'd be a bit more on the fence. But with the pitching possibly being the best all around in MLB and what has a become a decent hitting team, I think I'm a bit more confident that they are gonna get this done.
  6. Tonight's lineup looks to me like a Game 1 playoff lineup.
  7. Lauer starting vs Pirates on Sunday
  8. Yeah, just tuned in expecting to see pregame. Maybe no pregame today and going right into the game?
  9. Peter Gammons tweeted around 5pm that Shaw had been placed on outright waivers. None of the beat reporters seem to know about it. Anyone else seen anything? Does he have inside info or is Gammons going senile?
  10. I thought the Braun extension was good. I thought the Yeli extension was good. And honeslty, I think everyone that says they were bad extensions are full of crap because the numbers warranted the extensions. I like seeing guys in the Brewer uniform being rewarded for doing really well in the Brewer uniform and not for somebody else. There's always gonna be a risk. I guess I get pretty irritated at the thought of letting guys go after the 6-7 years of control and let them go elsewhere to earn more money. There's really no telling how they'll do wherever they will go. Braun could have gotten busted playing for the Yankees, Yeli could have slumped playing for the Angels, etc. I like keeping guys that have shown they are good. Paying them is just the way of MLB. I don't want to go back to the days of Bud Selig and not shelling out the money to the guys that got you to where you are and then falling back.
  11. Bellinger is trending upwards though. Small sample but their last 7 games: Yeli: .048/.130/.048 Beli: .320/.370/.640 Yeah, it's not looking good right now. Small sample size, but would love for Yeli to have a week like this to hopefully get confidence back and get on track.
  12. I think TH tweeted that Ashby was going to be kept around on the taxi squad. So he's not going far. I'm assuming he'll be added to the roster again at some point in the near future.
  13. I think Yeli has built up enough equity to giving him a longer leash to try and figure this out. We're 7 games up, some room to give. But if it starts getting tight, I think you gotta start making some "hard" decisions. Come October, if he hasn't started hitting better, he's not a "must start" in the playoffs. You gotta go with the best 3 OF hitters at point and if he's one of them, great. And lets keep in mind, as bad as Yeli has been for the Brewers, Bellinger has been WAAAAY worse for the Dodgers.
  14. Really want Rowdy to come up the bat with Rowdy Roddy Piper bagpipes entrance music playing at some point. That'd be great!
  15. Tarp just being put out. Game is being delayed. Update around 7pm.
  16. I mean, this just isn’t true. How is that not true? Look at the numbers and it's far and away his worst season. At least last year he hit some dingers.
  17. Being vaccinated doesn't necessarily mean you are immune. There is a greater chance you won't feel the effects or they will be mild. None of the vaccines are 100% effective.
  18. I still believe Hiura will eventually hit, but it shouldn't be in a Brewer uniform the rest of the year. Let him do his thing in Nashville and get him right for next season.
  19. I hate the Cubs. I hate the Yankees. But I have a soft spot for Rizzo because he donated $5,000 to the GoFundMe for my buddy's 4 year old kid with cancer. He's the first and hopefully only Cub player I'll ever remotely like.
  20. It's a good trade. You get a guy that is now your leading HR hitter, slides right into your cleanup spot, can play all over, is a switch hitter, and apparently a great clubhouse guy. I like the move a lot.
  21. Wonder if a team is going to take the risk on Hiura or if he's soon to be headed to Nashville for the rest of the year. Nashville. It would be a crazy sell low on Hiura is Stearns were to deal him now. Agreed. He could still be a player. Let him dominate AAA. CC said about a month ago that to you don't really see what a hitter is going to be until about 1500 AB's. Hiura is only at about 1/2 that. They aren't selling on Hiura now, especially when they'd be selling pretty low. He's shown he can hit. The league figured him out. Now he needs to make adjustments, just like the league did. That's how it works with a lot of players. He just hasn't adjusted as fast as he needs to. Or, he was a flash in the pan and he sucks.
  22. I think I'd agree that at this point it's gotta be Peralta.
  23. Adding Shaw is not a way to help this offense in any way. I just don't see how he fits on this team even when rosters would expand. Trading for someone that's only hitting .200 would be a major upgrade over bringing Shaw back. That's how bad he's been since his little "hot" streak early in the season. Since April 16 he's batting .163.
  24. I think the pitching lab in Arizona has had a huge impact and there is a direct correlation with the success the last few years.
