  1. What the hell are you swinging at, Kendall? This team makes it impossible to do any homework while watching them. I get too irritated and lose my train of thought.
  2. I guess the proper response would be "what crowd reaction?" Dead quiet for most of the game so far, with the exception of some loud boos when Manny walked in a run.
  3. At least Ankiel could make it out of the 5th inning routinely when he was on the mound.
  4. Seattle and San Diego are just as cold as the Brewers right now.
  5. Manny Parra is doing his best Ben Hendrickson impression.
  6. The Brewers have now trailed their opponent in 17 consecutive innings.
  7. Corey looks even uglier with a shaved head. If only he still had the Larry Bird 'stache with the bald head...that'd be an awesome look.
  8. Cameron swung on ball four twice in that AB...blech.
  9. Wellemeyer hurts his pitching hand in the first AB of the game. He'll now go on to strike out 12 of the next 13 hitters. Edit: Brian Anderson, while the park is dead quiet: "Cameron knows the energy is a lot different playing at home". http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  10. It'd be nice to get out of the first inning without trailing for once.
  11. Last year's Brewers weren't as good as their 24-10 start, and this year's Brewers aren't as bad as their 16-18 start. I don't like the idea of using the "they're xx-yy since they started 24-10 last year" stat, though. There's enough differences between last year's roster and this year's roster that it's not really fair to lump the two teams together like that.
  12. Part of the reason why I'm pessimistic about firing Yost being the answer is because you'd most likely replace him with somebody on his coaching staff. They're presumably on his staff because they have similar philosophies (and Ned has tended to get rid of the guys that didn't agree with his philosophies). Another guy who thinks like Ned is the last thing this team needs. If they do end up giving Ned the axe mid-season, I'd hope it would be someone like Kremblas or another guy who has no affiliation to Ned.
  13. Pretext: Earlier in the game, Felix Hernandez plunked Gerald Laird and Ian Kinsler with fastballs high and tight, hitting them virtually in the same exact spot. Texas' Kason Gabbard responds by giving Richie Sexson a high one, but it wasn't anywhere near his head. Sexson was obviously expecting something, as he was bailing out of the batter's box before the pitch reached home plate. Sexson then charges the mound, hilarity ensues. Here's a YouTube video of the bench-clearing brawl: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q53svl8pkWM My favorite part is Richie throwing his batting helmet at Gabbard to get him to duck before tackling him.
  14. At this point, free Derek Miller, Steve Hammond, Sam Narron, Evan Anundsen, and anyone else in the minors pitching well.
  15. Individual LOB tallies so far tonight: Rickie Weeks - 1 Mike Cameron - 2 Joe Dillon - 0 Ryan Braun - 5 JJ Hardy - 3 Bill Hall - 3 Gabe Kapler - 4 Mike Rivera - 2
  16. I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that the Cardinals had two separate 8-game losing streaks the year they won the World Series. So there's always that. Edit: In addition to the '06 Cards, the 2006 Dodgers, 2005 Padres, 2000 Mariners, and 1990 Reds also had 8-game losing streaks and still made the playoffs.
  17. Took this from a sig on NSBB, but this is pretty much how I feel these days. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v716/carjacker/bang-head-on-keyboard.gif
  18. You know things aren't going your way when you give up an infield hit to Luis Gonzalez.
  19. And that's why it's good to have Cameron in the lineup. Nice play.
  20. One run in 4.1 IP against a guy who couldn't find the zone all night. Maddening.
  21. Apparently you're allowed to stand on top of home plate and take first on a HBP. There's the solution to the Brewers' offensive woes...just HBP your way around the bases.
  22. I think it's safe to say your offense is sputtering when your pitcher has been your best hitter on the night. Congrats to Villy on doubling his career hit total, though. Only 2,996 until he gets 3,000.
