  1. Nice throw, Prince. Apparently he can't catch, step on a base, or throw.
  2. I propose that Dave Bush intentionally strikes out whenever he steps into the batter's box, just to avoid ever running the bases again. Edit: Great...Brian tells us that Bush essentially just gave up an RBI single to the only pitcher who stinks at hitting more than Ben Sheets.
  3. Ned should've seen Bush's collapse coming. No way he should've let him pitch the 4th inning.
  4. McClung pretty much has to be limited to that amount because he hasn't been stretched out to start. If he had the benefit of making a couple starts in Nashville before getting his chance in the rotation, they probably wouldn't be limiting him (one of the reasons why I don't know why they didn't just give Weaver a start, but the results would probably end up being the same as a McClung start anyway).
  5. I <3 COREY HART. Corey's really starting to catch fire. 5-for-11 in this series, IIRC.
  6. Will somebody please slap the kid in the yellow shirt waving his arms behind home plate?
  7. With Bush and Kendall hitting back-to-back, I didn't have much hope for a run scoring to begin with. Nice scoreless inning by Bush to follow it up, though.
  8. Carlos Delgado's corpse is pretty bad in New York, but Prince is definitely down there.
  9. At least they got the fourth out on the next AB. I was terrified that Prince's brain fart would have led to one of those Bush innings where 5 runs score with 2 outs. I don't know how that wasn't an error, either...it was a play that should have easily been made.
  10. Dear Prince: Wake up. How do you not get an out on a slow roller to first?
  11. You know what those PSA's say...tired posting is more dangerous than drunk posting. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif A road sweep seems unlikely tonight even though the bats have come alive. I'm just hoping Bush avoids giving up 4 runs in the first inning. If the Brewers manage to come up to bat in the 2nd inning with the score still tied, I'll like their chances.
  12. I think the Sheet-Out is a result of nearly every team having one guy who has astronomical career splits against Sheets, for whatever reason. There's always one guy like Xavier Nady or Jeff Kent or Derrek Lee that always seem to hit that solo HR to avoid the shutout. He did pitch a pretty good game last night, though. The strikeouts weren't coming towards the end of the game, but I think that's more a result of the Pirates starting to swing early in the count instead of working themselves into 2-strike holes. Definitely the kind of start I was hoping to see after that last Dodgers start.
  13. Prince's 24 RBI isn't that bad considering he hasn't had a ton of RBI opportunities so far this year. When he has had runners on or runners in scoring position, he's been much better this year: Bases Empty - .228/.290/.391 (.681 OPS), 3 HR, 3 RBI, 20 K, 7 BB Runners On - .303/.441/.500 (.941 OPS), 3 HR, 21 RBI, 8 K, 18 BB RISP - .289/.421/.526 (.947 OPS), 2 HR, 19 RBI, 7 K, 10 BB Once the top of the order starts getting on base, Prince's numbers will start to look better. It's not like Prince has been grounding out with tappers to second base every time up, either...even though he went 0-5 last night in Pittsburgh, most of the balls he hit were scorchers. He likely won't match last year's HR total (and I don't think it's fair to expect him to hit 50 every year -- it takes an outstanding year to hit 50), but there's still plenty of time for him to get his production up to his standards.
  14. With a win tonight, the Brewers will climb back into sole possession of 4th place.
  15. Here's roughly what was covered in the interivew: Segment opened with clip of Braun's broken bat RBI last night - Rome asked about the team's recent road slump and how they finally won in Pittsburgh -- Ryan said they have to figure out a way to start winning games, and there's no better time than now. - Was asked about his quote in Boston, if they have swagger of last year -- said they do have the swagger they did early last year, it's just a matter of being consistent with it and continuing to play hard. - Rome asked if he was responding to a question, or if he felt it was something that needed to be said -- Ryan said it was something that needed to be said, and he wasn't responding to a question. He feels like everyone recognizes it in the clubhouse and yesterday was step in right direction. - Rome mentioned some took it as an indictment on Ned, Ryan said it wasn't an indictment of Ned, that he's a huge fan of Ned, it was a matter of saying they need to play better. - Rome asked about the Ned/blog hoopla -- Ryan said it wasn't a distraction, said it was unfortunate, that the players all believe in him, and that the team's struggles on the field have nothing to do with him -- the players expect him to be there for the long haul. - Rome asked about Braun's recent hot streak -- Ryan said his hot streak is hard to explain...some days just feel good and you see the ball well. He hopes it continues as long as possible. - Rome asked about the Brewers' starting pitching -- Ryan feels they have enough to stay in contention, it's just a matter of consistency...performing on day in day out basis. Said hopefully the starters get it to the point of giving the team a chance to win every day. - Asked about Gagne's comments about not deserving to close -- Ryan said they believe in him, he just has to go out in believe in himself. Also said they believe in him even though they have a lot of other options in the bullpen, and he hopes he can get back to his old dominant self. - Talked about his contract extension -- Ryan said the contract was a tremendous honor and a tremendous achievement, and said it's really special for him. Hopes it opens the door for more extensions for his teammates -- Hart, Fielder, Weeks, Hardy mentioned specifically. - Added that he never anticipated this much success early in his career. Says the extension is unprecedented and says a lot about the front office and the organization. - Commented on Prince's leadership in the clubhouse and how he's glad Prince is on his team.
  16. He got a few garbage innings in Boston on Sunday.
  17. You're right, but I couldn't help but feel a little tense after the way things have been going lately. Long road losing streaks tend to mess with my rationality a bit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I still don't really buy the fact that Gagne's hurt, though, since he didn't even really show any signs of pain on the mound. The only thing I saw was a bit of a "here we go again" look on him after the Bay HR.
  18. Well, if you're going to start McClung against anyone, it might as well be the Nationals. I still can't shake the feeling that Villy will end up pitching about 4 innings of relief in that game, anyway, though.
  19. Weeks and Cameron start hitting, and the Brewers score 7 runs. Coincidence?
  20. Genius strategy by Ned to get Gagne out of the game when he realized there was no way he could get a reliever warm in enough time...to me it looked like Gagne was just doing what he does after every pitch, stretching his arm out like that. I doubt he's actually injured, but they might just parlay this into a chance to send Gagne down for "rehab".
  21. The bats seem to be waking up...Braun's been on a huge tear and it seemed like Prince started hitting better in Boston.
  22. Not only do Cubs fans hate Edmonds, but Carlos Zambrano absolutely despises him. He refused to comment when it came out that the Cubs signed him. I like the chances of seeing another dugout brawl in Wrigley this season.
  23. How do you walk Andruw Jones?? And why put Shouse in? You might as well let Stetter be the sacrificial lamb.
  24. Looks like Stetter's ERA is getting back to normal. Ugh.
  25. Melvin said during the press conference that nothing else is going on right now on the extension front...he said the negotiations pretty much ended at the end of Spring Training for everyone, but Braun and his agent called up DM and asked if they would be interested in continuing the negotiations, so they did. Like everyone else said, if Prince wants to get his money, let him have Boras call up DM and start up negotiations again.
