  1. Well, at least Parra gave us some hope today with one of the best starts of his career. I'm sure those who weren't able to follow this game will look at the score and think that Parra must've given up 5 runs again, but at least that wasn't the case. I can't really fault Macha for going to CV/Stetter in the 8th...Schroeder said something about Villa not allowing a run in his past 4 appearances, and it looked like he was about to turn it around again lately. Coffey probably shouldn't have had to pitch, but it ended up not mattering much, anyway. Got get 'em against the Dodgers. At least LA has to play a game in New York tonight and will probably be getting into Milwaukee late. It would've been nice to take 2 of 3 and even up the division race, but only losing one game on the Cards in this series won't be the end of the world. Looper's been pitching fairly well as of late and the Brewers have one more start from Yo before the break...I'd like to think they'll get at least one from the Dodgers.
  2. Pineiro's been solid like this all season (3.39 ERA, only 12 walks in 106 innings), so it doesn't really surprise me to see the Brewers struggle to hit much more than ground balls against him. You have to go back to May to find a start where he gave up more than 3 earned runs. One run isn't going to cut it very often, so I agree that it would've been nice for the Brewers to do more, but I think it's just one of those games where the opposing pitcher was more "good" than the batters were "bad."
  3. Well, get someone on to lead off the bottom half of the 8th and hope you can get at least a couple. Piniero's been very good at keeping the ball low, though, so it'll be tough...even Cameron's RBI single was a screaming grounder.
  4. It wasn't an intentional walk -- Stetter just couldn't find the strike zone against his only hitter.
  5. Tough to see Manny's good start go to waste with a full-on bullpen implosion. Still a couple innings left, but would it kill anyone to get an out? Yeesh.
  6. Ugh...I hate Brenden Ryan and his stupid striped socks. For those watching on Gameday, LaRussa sent the runner on a hit and run, Ryan hit one to the left center gap, the ball took an odd bounce off the bottom of the wall and rolled away from Cameron, allowing Ryan to get into third.
  7. Huge reaction when he struck out Piniero to end the inning, followed by a standing ovation. Great to see the crowd back on his side, considering how his last start (the ugly game against the White Sox) ended.
  8. Manny deserves every part of that standing ovation he's getting. Incredible performance for him...if he can continue to pitch well I imagine some of the starting pitching worries will start to subside. It'd be unrealistic to expect 7 shutout innings every time out, but this was definitely a promising start.
  9. I would've preferred to take Manny out after 6 and pinch hit for him, but I guess I can't blame Macha too much for trying to squeeze another inning out of him. The bullpen's had to pick up the slack a bit the past couple days, and it would be nice to take another inning off their hands before heading into the Dodgers series.
  10. Parra's pitching very well and Cameron gets a hit with RISP. I feel like I'm dreaming. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif How about a couple more runs?
  11. Haha...Parra tripped in mid-delivery, couldn't stop because it would've been a balk, and drops a pitch right in the middle of the strike zone for a strike. Completely fooled Hoffpauir, and struck him out on the next pitch. Everything seems to be going his way today, which is great to see.
  12. For those unable to watch on TV, it was noted during Brewers Live that Corey Hart's been struggling with a sore foot, which is why Cat is back in the lineup today. Macha seemed unsure if Hart would be able to go tomorrow against the Dodgers. At least Cat's done fairly well with the playing time so far, and hopefully the rest will do Corey some good.
  13. The 8th inning last night was a very solid AB. Without his walk, Fielder never gets to the plate following Braun's walk. Manny's looking pretty good out there so far. The Cards were one of the few teams he was pitching well against this year. Between Parra cruising and Piniero constantly throwing strikes, this game might be done in 90 minutes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  14. Looks like the Cardinals' plan against a pitcher who was struggling to throw strikes in his last big league stint is to swing at the first pitch. I can't say I can complain about that.
  15. Moving this to the Trading Post. All attempts to buy/sell tickets should go there. Exceptions are usually made for ticket giveaway contests, like the ones Pedro holds every so often.
  16. I think when the DeRosa-to-St. Louis deal was announced we had about 3 or 4 threads pop up at around the same time...these postgame announcements tend to do that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Hopefully Manny has his confidence back and won't have any comeback jitters. Returning with a quality start tomorrow would be huge for both himself and the Brewers. Narveson did his job well enough (racking up innings in blowouts), but with Parra returning McClung can take on that multi-inning role now.
  17. This is way too nerve-wracking for my likes. Molina's been red hot all game long and now a hit puts the Cards ahead. Good to see Hoff get ahead early.
  18. Trevor Time. Let's just hope that nobody is on base for Pujols. It's been awhile since Trevor's pitched, so here's to hoping he's not rusty out there.
  19. NOT IN TIME! Look at the wheels on Prince! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  20. Prince vs. lefties: .323/.406/.677 Prince w/ bases loaded: .545/.467/1.000 That's 6-11 with 20 RBI http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. Jason Motte throws some serious gas, but it's straight as a whistle. Hopefully Braun doesn't get homer happy and just tries to find a gap or something here. Very good at-bat by Hardy to get Braun up to the plate, though.
  22. Not a huge fan of intentionally walking Ankiel after they hung him with the golden sombrero last night, not to mention it guarantees that Pujols will come up in the 9th inning. Hopefully they can get Ryan out this time.
  23. He made a nice effort battling back, but I was worried that the crowd gearing up on 3-2 would get him a little antsy. Go get 'em again next inning, I guess...hopefully the bullpen has another 0 in them.
  24. Usually Prince comes through in that spot. He's just been struggling all game long, though. I'm loving the patience shown by Cat and Cameron, though. Hopefully Gamel's got one more line drive in that bat tonight.
  25. Yeah, I feel superstitious about mentioning Pujols' 0'fer so far. It's kind of like talking about a perfect game before the final out's recorded. I'd feel great if the Brewers could get a multiple runs before Pujols gets the chance to come up again. A Braun triple is a nice start. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
