  1. I still say let Manny pitch against the White Sox...their offense is just about as bad as Atlanta's, and they don't even really have a hitter as good as Chipper Jones. Considering he's fared much better at home than on the road, it'd be a good opportunity for him to get his confidence back up.
  2. I don't think Hoffman has the durability to put together a 4 out save at his age. I don't have a problem with Macha babying him a bit, because they're going to need Hoffman to stay sharp the entire season if they're going to make a run for a playoff spot. I wasn't comfortable throwing Villa out there for a third straight day, but I had a bigger problem with the way Kendall called that inning. For all the praise he gets for calling a good game, he hasn't done a great job of setting guys up to succeed very well. Villanueva's change-up is very difficult for lefties to hit, but instead Kendall calls for a curveball to both McCann and McLouth that cost them. I won't get too worked up over today's loss, though, because it was largely a successful series and a nice way to rebound after the debacle in Florida.
  3. Jason Kendall needs less playing time...ugh. Hopefully they have some 2 out magic left in them.
  4. Villa just looks exhausted out there, hanging curveballs. Hopefully they can get out of this with the score tied.
  5. The further back Chicago is when they finally get healthy, the better. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif As long as the Brewers keep hitting the way they've been today, though, I have good feelings about their chances to actually take the division...but it is early. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Too bad there's an off day tomorrow, because they're playing very well right now.
  6. Gotta love Coffey's sinker. Way to get out of the inning guys...tack on a few more and maybe we can get Smith or Burns some work.
  7. Ugh...I still believe that the Atlanta series in 2007 cost this team a playoff spot. Still peeves me to this day. I think Cox was more ticked off about having to run all that way to complain about that call than anything. Would've been nice to get Counsell in, but I'm not going to get too worked up over it since he probably shouldn't have been there to begin with.
  8. Manny would be incredibly good if he could ever get that third out without struggling. Slight bit of Turnbow-itis in that regard, I guess. Still a solid start, despite the 5 ER.
  9. Bill Simmons has a theory that Joey Harrington's career would have been much different (in other words, successful) if he called himself "Joe" instead of "Joey." Maybe Tommy Hanson should take this into consideration... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. We don't need no stinking small ball...another two run shot. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Good to see Cam finally do something good after a very rough road trip.
  11. Tough day for Manny...he's pitched a lot better than his line score would suggest today. I have no idea how Chipper hit that second HR out, and Cameron's mistake cost him a fourth run. The first HR to Chipper was really the only mistake he's made all day, but unfortunately a lot of people who didn't watch the game are going to look at his line and say it's time to ship him out. I saw enough out of him today that I think he's worth giving another start or two. Looks like Ryan's doing his best Chipper Jones impression. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif The ball is really flying there today, it seems.
  12. Especially since I believe Parra is supposed to go tomorrow. Nothing would be more disheartening than not being to score off a guy who gave up 10 runs in his last start, costing your super prospect a win in his debut. To me, that sounds like fun. Let's do it, Brewers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. My bad, then...I forgot that no one was covering third on the bunt. Fontenot still should've had Bruce at the plate, though. It sort of reminded me of the Brewers' walkoff against the Cubs earlier this year when Weeks scored on an infield hit, although it was at least understandable that Theriot wasn't able to get that ball in. A throw that didn't cause the catcher to leave his feet gets Bruce.
  14. What a spectacular way to lose if you're the Cubs... - Jay Bruce walks to start the inning. - Bruce advances to second on a passed ball, but went into second standing up and could've easily been out with a better throw. - Bruce advances to third on a hard sacrifice bunt to the pitcher, who had a chance to throw Bruce out at third but went to first instead. - Next batter hits a hard grounder to Fontenot at third with the contact play on...Fontenot should have Bruce dead to rights at home, but makes an unbelievably bad throw that makes the catcher leave his feet...Bruce walks across home plate. You almost feel bad for how much they're struggling. Almost. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. I don't think Hall sees the light of day in the outfield if Macha didn't already use Gerut as a pinch-hitter. If he used Cat earlier instead of Gerut, I think Hall stays at third. I don't think Macha is thinking about using him in the outfield, unless Gerut is on his way out (and it'd be a little early to assume that, based on Melvin's history).
  16. Hello, two game lead. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Good to get the series win before having to face Tommy Hanson tomorrow. Hopefully they can rough him up and jump on any nervousness he might have, but at least they'll have an excuse if they struggle.
  17. So much for the ball avoiding him. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif At least he didn't hurt himself this time. Two more to go, Trevor. Let's lock it down and earn my fantasy team tons of points.
  18. Looks like frustration boiling over for Cameron. The good news is that it doesn't look like he touched the ump so he should be fine in terms of a suspension, but Brian Anderson's right in that this could end up costing the Brewers defensively in the 9th.
  19. Atlanta hasn't scored a run in something like 19 straight innings now...remember when the Brewers were going through stretches like that just a couple years ago? Let's tack on some more runs and lock down another win.
  20. Well Jody finally got on base...hopefully that gets something started for him. Too bad about him getting picked off but at least it's a start. Counsell's had a huge night, too...let's tack on an insurance run or two. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. With first open, I had no problem with Suppan pitching around Chipper. Take your chances with a slightly less dangerous McCann.
  22. I'm actually not all that worried about Suppan tonight considering he's going against a pretty weak Braves lineup -- just avoid Chipper like the plague and he should be fine. Let's get that series win locked up before the Crew has to face the second coming of Cy Young tomorrow. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. Apparently Albert Pujols is the only player allowing to point to the sky after touching home on a home run, too. Everyone else is mocking him and deserves one in the ribs the next time they hit...Ian Stewart should probably watch out. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  24. He's crazy enough to make this believable, that's for sure. Despite the antics, I never got the feeling that he was comfortable in such a large spotlight, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was just the type to retire early and live the rest of his life quietly in Venezuela. He's also incredibly loyal, though, so I don't doubt that he feels that he owes it to the organization to stay there for the remainder of the deal.
  25. I saw that, too...I also saw Kevin Gregg nearly blew another game. The Cubs' bullpen right not reminds me of the Brewers' two or three years ago, when Turnbow was still a prominent part of the pen and no lead was safe. Peeking at NSBB, it's no wonder they're starting to get worked up over there. I do think the Cubs will be dangerous once Ramirez comes back from the DL, though...they're starting to find ways to win games with what little offensive production they're getting, and I don't expect Hendry to sit on his hands much longer.
