  1. I still have hope for the wildcard spot, and after the past week or so, I'd be perfectly content with a one-game playoff against the Mets, too, even if it means having to play at Shea since they lost the coinflip. Hopefully the Cubs decide that they'd rather play the Dodgers in the first round instead of the Mets, and don't completely tank this upcoming series.
  2. They just find a new way to break your heart every night. Jeez.
  3. So how will Ryan Braun strike out here? 3 straight out of the zone? Deep into the count? Looking?
  4. Words cannot describe how disappointed I'll be if the team declines the option on Cameron and decides to start TGJ next year. Ugh.
  5. Apparently, the Mets and Phillies don't want to go to the playoffs, either.
  6. Bah. Off to the Non-Brewers IGT. Go Braves and Fish. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. Chipper Jones leaves the game for the Braves with Atlanta trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th. Edit: And of course, the Braves rally to tie the game at 5, thanks to two errors by the Mets. A throwing error by Jose Reyes gets Brandon Jones on, and then an error by Ryan Church turns a single by Martin Prado into a run-scoring play, with Prado moving into second.
  8. Mike Rivera gets to play, but Alcides Escobar doesn't? Come on, Dale, at least give me Escobar so I can pay attention instead of just listening to the announcers in the background.
  9. Any chance this game ends early due to a 10-run rule or something?
  10. The only way this could be worse is if Parra leaves the game with an arm injury or something. This game is even more annoying to watch with the Reds announcers repeatedly saying that Manny "Pair-ah" is pitching.
  11. To quote Dusty Baker, "It's called hitting, dude, not walking."
  12. Well, at least they won't get shut out tonight. There's always that.
  13. Ha. Jerry Hairston, Jr. This is like rubbernecking on a 12-car pileup on the freeway. I just can't look away.
  14. An anagram for "Jeffrey Scot Suppan" -- "Crappy Offenses Jut" (as in "extend" or "project"; ex: "Against Jeff Suppan, teams project the baseball into outer space") I kid you not.
  15. This smells like another one of those Suppan starts where he labors through a brutal first inning, then throws a shutout for the next 4 or 5 innings. Brian and Bill will end up praising him for "keeping the team in the game" but he'll end up giving up 2 more runs in the 6th and leave the game with a 7-2 deficit or so.
  16. I don't know how people seem to think they know so much about Sveum - give the guy a chance. You ask me, he made all the right moves in Chicago It's not based upon my opinion of Sveum. It's based on my belief that unless the Brewers make the playoffs and essentially have no choice but to give Dale the job, that Mark A. is going to want to pony up and get a proven winner. Someone who has managed a team to a playoff berth in the past. My only problem with that is that means the Brewers would be recycling an old manager that got fired somewhere else, which means he was likely making the same mistakes over and over that Yost was. Willie Randolph, for example, would be a horrible hire.
  17. Well, at least they kept the Reds from batting around in that inning. Start chipping away, guys.
  18. Hey, an out. There's a start. I think Prince needs to punch out Suppan to get things going again. It worked the last time they stunk in Cincy.
  19. The Reds are going to be scary good once they get good pitching. Maybe the Brewers can unload Suppan on some team that is looking for a "crafty veteran" to put into their rotation. Think Melvin has Ned Colletti's number?
  20. There's always the chance the Mets lose to the Braves tonight.
  21. Only two more years of Suppan. So we've got that going for us.
  22. Ray got thrown out by a lot less than you'd expect a guy going on 40 to be thrown out by.
  23. I think the Reds announcers just tried to tell me that they're a better offensive team after trading Ken Griffey Jr and Adam Dunn. First inning singles are always nice. Let's get another one, Ryan.

  25. Crushing the hopes of so many people at once is bound to give you a sore hand.
