  1. The Brewers dropping to the 2 seed would obviously mean that the team has hit a really ugly skid in the final 3 weeks. But it probably would result in a more preferable DS matchup and the 3 straight home games in the LCS might be an advantage.
  2. 11-13. They end up at 96-66 and win the division (and lock down the 1 seed) by 1 game. The pitching staff and the bullpen usage is a concern.
  3. Fedde isn’t pitching all 9. And nobody else besides Easton McGee can give them length today. And he might be in to mop up if Fedde is a disaster.
  4. The Brewers are essentially punting this game, which is fine given the state of the bullpen. Ashby pitches 2-3 innings and Fedde eats the rest of the game, regardless of how well he pitches
  5. Just FWIW, but he pitched back to back days on Aug 30-31 in Cincinnati. He would have given up 2 runs and lost the game on the second day, if not for an incredible defensive play by Jake Bauers
  6. It would be the Phillies. 3 pm Saturday
  7. My guess is that if Arizona is eliminated Sunday, both the Mets and Braves will agree to cancel the DH and Manfred will concur. In this scenario, the 6 seed is more advantageous to both teams, as they avoid the Padres and Dodgers side of the bracket. No point in both teams burning their pitching staffs and subjecting themselves to a brutal travel turnaround just for seeding - especially when the best outcome for both teams is to lose both games.
  8. Say what you will about the Brewers proposal, but the Bucks deal is objectively really anything but a boondoggle. The majority of the arena is financed with revenues from an existing sales tax on rental cars, hotels, etc. The state’s portion is partially offset by an arena ticket tax and is way less than the income tax generated by the players. The city’s portion is paid via TIF and the county’s is a small reduction in shared revenue. It has absolutely nothing to do with the MPS referendum or the sales taxes recently approved. Both of those things would have happened, even if the Bucks had left.
  9. Yep, this will pass the Assembly on Tuesday. But it still needs to get through the Senate, too. They might want tweaks, which means it’ll require another vote in the Assembly. It might be a little while.
  10. Spare me. It’s a playoff game. Most people in the park didn’t know it was concussion-related. Plus, if we need a 6 minute injury delay, he should have probably been pulled from the game.
  11. They’re in deep, deep trouble, but the offense was never going to be good enough to spark a deep run. Tonight isn’t the best example of that because they had some genuinely bad luck. This offense puts so much stress on the pitching staff by leaving it so little margin for error and that is amplified in a short playoff series
  12. Advanced listings have two evening games on both days, each starting at 6 pm CT, one on ESPN, the other on ESPN2
  13. Probably in the minority here, but I’m not terribly concerned about winning the division, especially if it results in 2-3 Wild Card games at home against the Cubs.
  14. The Bucks have absolutely nothing to do with this. Their stadium debate was over 8 years ago, and I haven’t heard anybody griping about the financing package since it was signed into law. It will not be a factor in any of the current debates about stadium financing. If this runs longer than, say, November, the Brewers need to seriously considering onboarding somebody stronger than Rick Schlesinger to shepherd this thing through to the end.
  15. I can’t see the players union ever endorsing a team playing full-time in Mexico. Also … what does a local media deal look like with a Mexican team?
  16. This is a sign that the attendance is going to be down significantly this season
  17. The experience at the ballpark has fallen off significantly in the past 4-5 years - and the decline in the quality of the food (considering the prices) has been stark. For example, they were charging $11+ for a nacho bowl topped with cold shredded cheese last year. I think this underscores much of the derision on Twitter and other places about X-Golf. Hoping the organization notices what’s happened and we see some changes in April because it was embarrassing last season. Until then, save your money and eat somewhere else before the game.
  18. It’s not reasonably possible. There’s like 1 percent chance the Brewers win the division, it’s not even worth contemplating
