  1. LeBron walking off the floor w/o acknowledging anybody...fine. I understand; it's not like it's never happened before. I think he exacerbated the situation with his quote on Sunday. He's a diva, no doubt, but I also thought he was a classy guy, too. He probably misspoke, and IMO, he sounded like a sore loser. This is corroborated because he didn't speak with the media. I know he was overwhelmed by emotion, but it's a responsibility. No big deal, but I guess I expected more of him. Talk show hosts are making a big deal out of this, from what I've heard. Some guy compared this situation with the Air France crash last night. Crazy. It's good to see athletes 'caring' about wins and losses -- especially in the NBA. Agreed.
  2. Wow. Tonight brought me back to the good ol' Yost days. I didn't get to see the game, but I did a double take when I saw that Julio entered a 4-2 game. What an unbelieveably awful performance. And, um, why did Prince try to steal third? With 0 out?
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/news/story?id=4219933 This story probably doesn't have much traction and isn't that big of a deal, but I think it spoke volumes about one of the greatest athletes of this generation. After the Cavs were eliminated on Saturday, LeBron James raced off the court, failing to congratulate the Magic on winning the Eastern Conference. He also declined to speak to the media. Today, he justified his actions: "It's hard for me to congratulate somebody after you just lose to them," he said. "I'm a winner. It's not being a poor sport or anything like that. If somebody beats you up, you're not going to congratulate them. That doesn't make sense to me. I'm a competitor. That's what I do. It doesn't make sense for me to go over and shake somebody's hand." It sounds like somebody has a lot of growing up to do...
  4. How are Uecker seats being misused? If people are passionate about attaining bobblehead dolls and can gain admission to the game for $1/doll, more power to them. They're not breaking the rules and they aren't sitting in somebody else's seats. Edit: Agreed, mothership. It's about opportunity cost. I'd rather pay $17 for regular SRO than wake up at 6 am and wait in line for 3-4 hours for a $1 ticket.
  5. I was at the game. I was floored when Brandon Phillips bunted with 1 out in the 9th. I don't know if that was a directive from Dusty, but thanks for the free out, Brandon!!
  6. 4 @ FLA (1-3) 3 @ ATL (1-2) 3 vs. COL (2-1) 3 vs. CWS (2-1) 3 @ CLE (2-1) 3 @ DET (0-3) 3 vs. MIN (1-2) 3 vs. SF (3-0) 3 vs. NYM (1-2) 13-15, 18 HRs
  7. Kind of out there, but I think it'd be funny if they played "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" after a loss. The song is kind of unintentionally humorous, so I think it would help to lighten the mood. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. I guess the good news in Carpenter's situation is that if it goes on for much longer La Russa will have to make a tough decision on sticking to the pitch count or letting him finish the job. Man, I think if you're close to pitching a perfect game, you absolutely have to let him finish the job.
  9. I hate to be "that guy", but can somebody change the thread title to represent today's date? Thanks http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. We'll probably get another Sunday Nighter this year -- likely after the All-Star break.
  11. Well, look at the bright side. We were 20-24 at this point last season.
  12. It'll be the Brewers fault if they're sleepwalking tomorrow. They didn't have to schedule a 1:05 pm game.
  13. I agree, but at least they were hitting in Boston. The offense, or at least the lineups, has been maddening this weekend.
  14. I hope the Brewers sent Yovani Gallardo home early. I'm sure nobody is thrilled with the 1pm start tomorrow -- I don't see why they couldn't have pushed it back until 3 or 4pm?
  15. That dome is an embarassment to the state of Minnesota. What a crappy baseball facility.
  16. I'd be ready to give that person a beatdown, too, but throwing a bottle at a vehicle doesn't justify beating the living crap out of the offender. They should have handled the situation appropriately. Again, I'm not saying either side is worse than the other, but I just don't think you can justify what they did.
  17. Doesn't sound like the Cubs fans were the one's who instigated the fight in this particular incident you describe. True, but the Cubs fans allowed the situation to significantly escalate. In no way does throwing a beer bottle at a car warrant assault. Inside Edition came to Milwaukee looking for a story. I doubt they developed their story because they received a tip about Miller Park or Milwaukee. The producers probably figured that a rivalry + Opening Day + sold out crowd + a town known for its affinity for alcohol = a story.
  18. Can I now trade my Duffy t-shirt for a Gerut t-shirt?
  19. As soon as I saw the Journal article I knew this thread was coming. Very disappointing that this inevitable topic couldn't be spared from BFan.net. Why so disappointing? Sure, I approve of the job Macha has done thus far, but it doesn't seem fair that we can't discuss a mistake just because we're 25-15. IMO, in-game management discussions have been among the most interesting, insightful, and entertaining threads on bf.net.
