  1. Why not retaliate? Besides putting their hottest hitter on first, IMO, it's not a terrible idea to try to lure Zambrano into a confrontation or meltdown. I know it's a cliche, but it was nice to see Suppan stand up for Prince. That pitch was too close to his head for my taste.
  2. I'll say there's a fairly good chance of Zambrano homering today. Happens at least once a year.
  3. Too many sponsors, too much music between pitches (hey, Brewers, you're only supposed to play organ music while the OTHER team is pitching -- I feel like I'm at an NBA game with all of the musical clutter/interludes) -- just way too much "going on" and, imo, it's becoming bothersome and tacky.
  4. 2009: St. Louis, vs. Milwaukee. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Burns looked very good tonight, but I think you have to reserve judgment until he pitches against the Cubs and Dodgers. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about this team right now.
  6. Dry skin, headaches, aches and pains, fatigue, stomach and anxiety issues. Thanks, Accutane!!
  7. Phew. Defense, or lack thereof, has been pivotal for both teams in this series.
  8. Holy crap!!!1! Cubs lose! Cardinals lose! Let's get a game back tonight.
  9. Oh well, at least we face Zito on Friday. That gives me immense hope for at least 1 W this week.
  10. This team makes me want to break stuff. I really have to wonder if Looper got hurt on the line drive.
  11. You're probably right -- I wasn't implying that being 'atrocious' would be a bad thing, anyways. However, we'll have to wait and see if LRMAM is sent to the Wizards as part of a possible Redd deal. No guarantees about Bogut staying healthy the entire season, either. I will seriously raise a glass once all of the dead weight is shipped out of town.
  12. It's a very good trade -- clearly a salary dump and the first step to completely rebuilding. As trwi7 said, Oberto and Bowen will not play for the Bucks. I'm now crossing my fingers for that Redd to Washington deal, and maybe Ridnour will be jettisoned before the draft? In the mean time, I expect the Bucks to be atrocious next season.
  13. A) The Cubs did not play at Miller Park until July 28 last year. They've already played 6 times this year. IMO, this year's figure will fall behind last year's around late July. B) The fewer 10k seats at both Citi Field and Yankee Stadium is a big reason for the 5% drop.
  14. I was at Comerica tonight. It's a shame they even started the game -- I'm at a hotel just a couple blocks from the stadium and the streets and freeways are flooding. And meh...we didn't deserve to win. Looper just looked awful -- the ball was just flying off the Detroit bats. Dude didn't give up any cheapies tonight.
  15. 55 total runs scored in the series...Brewers 30, Indians 25. This is the fifth road series the Brewers have swept in the past year (@SF, @STL, @PIT, @STL, @CLE) after failing to sweep a road series from July 1, 2004 to July 20, 2008. Definitely one of the more memorable series in quite some time.
  16. Oh no. No cheese sandwich. I want this game to be over very soon. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. If it were the 8th inning, I'm sure Stetter would have pitched. I think Macha was just following the formula.
  18. If that's the case, then why have a situational lefty? Those were the highest leverage ABs in the game -- situations tailor made for Stetter. It was the 9th though, so the designated "closer" must pitch, even though the matchups favor Stetter. Ugh.
  19. Even if the Brewers win tonight, I still won't feel good about them. I'm certainly happy that we've scored 21 runs in the past two games, but the SP has sucked. BTW, I'm not a fan of tonight's lineup. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm almost hoping it doesn't work so Macha doesn't even think about trying it again.
  20. Sigh...I will never understand why managers make these types of decisions.
  21. I was also at today's game. -The guy in front of me was barking at people who kept their hats on for "God Bless America." Ugh. -So, how does a team that is #18 in attendance, averaging roughly 25,000 per game manage to pack Miller Park all weekend? Whenever the Brewers play on the South Side, I expect a sizeable crowd of Brewer fans. -I had a problem with the management in the 9th inning. Macha should have used a righty against the anemic (well, until this weekend) Gordon Beckham, and then brought in Stetter to either face Thome, or burn Thome, forcing Guillen to use Jermaine Dye with one out. Then, Stetter faces Scotty Po. I'm surprised nobody else addressed that -- Macha just used Hoffman in that spot because that's when the closer is supposed to pitch. -I can't wait until Thursday -- our next off day. I'm shocked this team is still in first place.
