  1. If the Brewers do lose tonight, I pray that they don't score, for embarassment's sake. I have a feeling Hardy or Dillon will hit a cheap HR in the top of the 9th to make it 6-1 as opposed to 6-0.
  2. Being potentially 6 GB after tonight scares me, frankly.
  3. So now Bush can't find the zone? Jeez
  4. Nice inning...I expected something to the tune of: 2 BB, 1 H, 2 R, 36 pitches
  5. Somebody needs to throw a chair into a TV. Won't hurt anything at this point.
  6. You're right, the article is absolutely devoid of content. In reading about the "pain" of Cameron's suspension, you'd be tempted to think he was emerging, falsely imprisoned, from a 10-year sentence in a medieval dungeon. One story even mentioned that, during his stint in the minors-which lasted four games-Cameron stayed in a $100-per-night hotel. The horror! I follow the team closely, and I have yet to see a story depicting Cameron's terrible experience about his suspension. Ridiculous...and it's not like a $100 per night hotel is something lavish...it's actually pretty standard. No one has made Mike Cameron out to be a hero because he was taking extra BP. He was serving his punishment, and that's that. He took supplements...and it was stupid. What exactly was the point of this piece??? Again, this article is another reason why sportswriting is such an easy target.
  7. If this start is any indication, it's going to be another long night for the pen.
  8. The writing is choppy and this guy is being overdramatic. Milwaukee trails National League Central-leading St. Louis by 3 1/2 games, with the Cardinals set to play Monday night at Colorado. The Brewers never trailed by more than 3 1/2 games last season The Brewers play St. Louis 4 times this week. And it's May 5. And most believe St. Louis will regress significantly. If the Brewers are back by more than 4 games after the end of the series against the Cardinals, then I'll be concerned. That might not be a problem this season because the Brewers will not be playing meaningful September games unless Yost can get the club straightened out in May. The Brewers are in crisis mode heading into Tuesday's series opener at Florida. Come on! The Brewers blew a couple of games this weekend. Big deal. They've had a sub-par last couple of weeks. It happens. And they're still over .500. Ugh, this why sportswriting is an easy target. To say the Milwaukee Brewers are in crisis mode on May 5, IMO, is a gross overreaction.
  9. Don't want to speak too soon, but Nabokov has been acrobatic in this OT period. Impressive stuff.
  10. And 20 straight going back to last year (back to that Giants series in August).
  11. Think about it: last year, if Cordero doesn't serve one up to Ramirez, give up a three run lead with one out to get TWICE, and if Yost makes a couple of different decisions, the Milwaukee Brewers win the NL Central. Probably by several games. And who knows, maybe they ride the wave to the World Series? The point is, they've been close enough to the postseason where I can believe that they have the ability to win. I'm more concerned that this team has blown a 4 run lead in two games this weekend. If the pitching would have held up this weekend, optimism abounds. And, trading Fielder so soon would alienate this fan base. He's a star and he puts a lot of butts in the seats. IMO, he is the face of the Milwaukee Brewers. If there's anybody I'd jettison before next year, it's JJ.
  12. then dont follow them I think most of us here both hate and love the Brewers at the same time.
  13. If I'm Gagne and I lose, I'm going after Phil Cuzzi on the way to the clubhouse.
  14. Ugh. I have a feeling that allowed Sheets to return will be a bad idea.
  15. I remember a thread devoted to Barrett's comments at the time. We were upset with his presumptous arrogance. If this were to happen, wouldn't the Cubs have to pay the Brewers A LOT of money on top of any parking, concession revenues, etc.? I see this as a good opportunity to the Brewers to significantly boost their payroll. The hate for the Chicago Cubs and their fanbase would probably be off the charts before long.
  16. I'll bet that the Cubs may play around 20 games at Miller Park. Can you imagine the scenario if the Cubs played a full 81 at Miller Park? Baseball nonstop from April 1-September 30! It's highly, highly unlikely, IMO.
  17. A couple of points: *Ben Sheets MUST make a stronger commitment to staying healthy. I know that statement may draw some ire from some around here, but it's been speculated that Sheets is "soft" or doesn't pitch when he's "not feeling 100%." Ben must carry this team on his shoulders for the rest of the year. *Am I incorrect by equating this situation to last year's demise of Chris Capuano? Probably a similar effect on the W-L columns. *If I'm Melvin, I'm entertaining and pursuing trade talk. It's a probability that Sheets will wind up on the DL, and this window won't be open for much longer: the attitude must remain "playoffs or bust." *I'm not going to play the blame game. Yes, Reed Johnson is an idiot and who knows what the training staff was thinking. The fact is, Gallardo is gone, but we need to focus on what it will take for the Brewers to win the division. IMO, it's still a possibility; Yo was bound to cool off at some point.
  18. at Chi Cubs: 1-0 at Houston: 2-1 at Florida: 2-1 St. Louis: 2-2 Los Angeles: 2-1 at Boston: 2-1 (I have a good feeling about this series -- we'll see some good pitching performances) at Pittsburgh: 1-2 at Washington: 2-2 Atlanta: 1-2 Houston: 2-0 Total: 17-12 I honestly believe this team is learning to win on the road (they should be 10-5!). That will bode well once they pick it up at home. May will be a good month. EDIT: Gagne will blow a save in Boston. It'll be similar to Cordero's return to Texas -- may seem silly, but it's something to keep in mind.
  19. Giving up 19 runs on ESPN and pre-empting Sportscenter by 45 minutes. Job well done, Brewers!
  20. If Turnbow isn't used today, he will never be used.
  21. Ugh...it couldn't be easy, could it??
  22. YESSSS I love seeing Derrek Lee GIDP. Amen on the brawl...it's been brewing for a couple of years between these two teams. Some bad blood would carry over into July and make that series very compelling
  23. Extra effort = an extra run The Brewers are close to eclipsing their run total from the entire Marlins series...
  24. Derrek Lee is killing me. Good thing we don't have to see him until July 28...maybe he'll cool down by then
