  1. I don't know, but that's a piece of info that our hitters might want, too.
  2. Those last three hitters were impressive, as much for his willingness to pitch as anything. Well done, manny.
  3. Well, in the minds of many around here TGJ was useless, so the trade was even.
  4. This team has been abysmal in games where they have a chance to win a series or finish a sweep.
  5. What is the intent of any runner going into second in that situation? If contact is made on the play, can't intereference be called in every such incident?
  6. I'm starting to see why many think Gamel should play every day. Fits right in with most of the roster.
  7. I'm just waiting to see the interference call on that play again some time soon Very iffy call, even if technically correct. It's like prosecuting one pro athlete for adultery every ten years.
  8. Ryan Braun says that if the starting pitching was better this game would still be tied.
  9. Agreed. I don't like Gamel behind Fielder, either. Gamel strikes out too much to be in that spot, in additon to what Schiltz states.
  10. I don't know, crewcrazy, but I think I'd have to put Javier Valentin at the top of that list. EE hits the bombs but Valentin always seemed to provide the aggravation factor in that he's find a different method of torment every possible moment. It got to the point where if he came up in a potentially devastating situation, it was game over. Of course, Hall would do it to the Reds in the past, too, but Valentin's stuff always seemed to come at the end of an improabale win for the Reds.
  11. I think they have been using a similar system on a limited basis to track soccer players for a while over in European leagues and in international matches. They can determine exactly how far guys have run in a game, and can get the times and distances of the more explosive runs that guys will make down the field in an attacking situation. I think they also track the ball itself, with respect to time in the air versus on the ground, distances of crossses into the area and other such stuff. With so much data available through video analysis sytems like these, I can't help but think that all sports will undergo a fair degree of scrutiny and change in terms of the intellectual approach to the game.
  12. It's supposed to be in every park next season.
  13. I've determined that watching the Brewers live is only slightly more entertaining than re-watching Rockford Files episodes on Hulu, but only when I don't know pretty much how the Brewer game will turn out.
  14. This is the NL. It may well be a playoff team while still being mediocre.
  15. Alan Embree of the Rockies out for the year after a line drive breaks his tibia. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4320650
  16. Next question: Who is the next individual on a generally mediocre team to have the finger pointed at them?
  17. The way things are going, the tying run will be cut down at the plate by Juan Pierre.
