  1. It may be a coincidence, but the results fit the general pattern of the season: If the Crew don't score at least 5 (and preferably 8 or more) runs they have a greatly diminished chance of winning any ballgame. 7, 5, 8, 17 are the run tallies in the home wins this seasons. They've only lost once at MP when they scored at least 5 runs, and two-thirds of their wins have come when they score at least 8 runs. It almost seems like the general rule, subject tto exceptions of course, is that whoever jumps on the other guy first in any game involving the Brewwers will be the winner. If nobody jumps on the other guy, the team opposing the Brewers has the advantage. Makes for a less-than-optimal viewing experience. Very little drama, and what there is usually evokes negative emotion and expectation.
  2. Timmons keeps looking back in the dugout like he's the one nursing the grievance. Either toss somebody or ignore it, Blue.
  3. Prince v Catcher would be an intersting climax to the inning.
  4. Yep, have to give credit to Suppan there, especially if you rip him otherwise. Gave the team a shot, though I'm not feeling too good about their chances. We'll see what happens.
  5. There is a Nobel Prize to be had in coming up with some sort of explanation for this team's hitting.
  6. Yeah, this is all well and good, so long as they haven't already outscored themselves for the rest of the series. I'm taking credit for this tonight as I found and am wearing my Brewers lounging pants that my wife bought me last year at Father's Day and which I had forgotten about before finding them in the closet today. Of course this also means that I must accept blame for the dismal start to date, which I will gldaly do if the magic pants bring the Crew back into the race.
  7. The Twins asked him to move to the bullpen according to reports and he said he did not feel comfortable doing that. So, they did not expect him to be lights out according to what I have read Never said "lights out", just optimistic. This article seems to back up what I had been told. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/92642839.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUnciaec8O7EyUsr
  8. I'm not sure what you are implying with this post. That Prince is dogging it? He will surely start hitting, every player has down months. However, you seem to be insinuating that he isn't trying or something. Why? I don't read any implications in that post, just a frustrated statement of fact that Prince is performing below the level expected of him in the one area that the team needs him most.
  9. The Crew won the 20-0 game in Pittsburgh and, if you leave out the 17-3 pasting of the Pirates at home, they have not scored 20 runs total since that time, pending the last out in this game. Maybe Rickie can push them over the top.
  10. Is there any defnintion by which this is not a bad baseball team? Not saying it's a permanent condition, but right now, and until something changes and remains consistently postive for an extended period of time, this has to be one of the two or three worst teams in baseball.
  11. Not only that. Other than the Astros, the Orioles are the only other team in all of baseball with a worse record than the Crew, and a lot of that can be attributecd to playing in the most stacked division in MLB.
  12. 10-18 Tiebreaker: 21
  13. Kind of funny BA mentioning how late inning pitching gets managers fired.. I guess we can only hope.
  14. Went to bed, then it started raining really hard here. Woke up, got on the computer to check the radar and saw this score. Another day, another dollar. They say betting on baseball is a losing proosition but at this point I'm starting to think money could be made betting on Brewers games. They are as close to a "sure thing" in terms of the limited number of possible outcomes that you can find in sports. At least Soup got a hit this half inning. God bless all of you willing to tough this one out for the rest of us.
  15. It would be easier to feel good if it seemed like there was any sort of mystery or suspense to what is going to happen in a game, making it fun to watch. Not saying there isn't, but it sure doesn't seem like it. You "know" the Brewers will give up at least 5 runs and you "know" that if they are ahead by only 1 or 2 late that it isn't enough. Until yesterday the only exception to the rules applied when the Brewers played Pittsburgh. Now, even that is gone. People would feel better if it looked like any of this were just fluky, or if there were something simple that could change in the lineup or rotation that would be a simple fix, but neither of those seems to apply. It just seems like the same games every day, and usually the same results. Add in a single play from seemingly every game that goes wrong (today's was Edmunds being thown out at the plate) that might have made all the difference and the frustration level grows. Nothing is better after a long winter of starting a baseball season and being at least a little bit realistically optimistic about your team. It's something Brewer fans have gotten used to in recent seasons after literally two decades of having that sensation only very rarely. It's tough to have that feeling completely leave you before the opening month even draws to a close. I really like west coast road trips as I don't mind staying up late, sitting out late on the deck with my telescope checking out the sights in the nite sky and listening to Ueck on the call. It's going to be cloudy/rainy and now no Ueck this weekend, either. For the first time in a long time I may take a complete pass on Brewers baseball this weekend. When is the last time folks in Milwaukee felt this good about the Bucks and this bad about the Brewers at the same time?
  16. My dad has Twins season tix and spends a month down in Florida during spring training. He's also friends with a member of the Twins coaching staff. The Twins have been pretty optimistic that Liriano was going to be really good this season since early in Spring training, and Dad thought he looked right in the srong games he saw, too. Time will tell.
  17. It's not as bad as it could be. We'll know they've hit bottom when Fangraphs has the Brewers win probability at below 50% when they enter the 9th with a 1-run lead.
  18. It's actually 5. A full 25% f games to date. If not for Casey stealing one back from the Cards, it would have been a full quarter of the season to date just plain blown. Not "blown by the bullpen" as the media has stated on numerous occasions, but blown by two guys in particular.
  19. What they didn't say about Rodgers and Tauscher going deep in their HR Derby earlier is that Hoffman was pitching then, too.
  20. That Zaun AB was a pale imitation of the Stavinoa HR. I figure it gets us halfway back to even for that abomination.
  21. Yep. For all we like to complain about those guys, they very often don't get enough credit for making calls like that. I still think they give 'em up too easy at second on plays like that, but great call at the dish.
