  1. That song is from 1985. Right in my wheelhouse, but a lot of these guys weren't even talking yet.
  2. I give Parra one runner this inning. Then it's McClung time.
  3. Yes, Chipper's HR was kind of unreal. But Chipper shouldn't be getting to the plate in that inning when there are already two out and he's not even in teh on-deck circle. That is where Manny failed. It's how he often fails. The boys are bailing him out for a change.
  4. Brewers biggest problem right now is that they can't hit mistakes and the other teams are hitting them.
  5. I think it's based off the fact that McClung was pretty good in a starting role last season. But I wouldn't make that switch becase I think Parra would be even worse in teh pen than as a starter AND his trade value would further plummet.
  6. That was about 50x more unlucky than anything Parra did. Loop had a lead and pitched strikes, most of them pretty decent. They just fell in and Looper made the one defensive mistake.
  7. I think Manny is one of those unfortunate guys that opponents just know they can beat, even though he has good stuff. I think the hitters are more confident that they can hit him than Manny is that he can get guys out. Hitters look for his mistakes, and Manny puts himslef in position to make mistakes. In a way he's like a cornerback who can run with anyone and usually has good technique, but always just seems to get beat on third and 17, or for a long TD late in the 4th quarter.
  8. Why use up Burns? Let Manny stay out there until his pitch count gets up.
  9. Manny's best bet is to keep giving up runs so the game never makes it to the 5th.
  10. I know the offense is frustrating, but if you look at tonight's lineup who really stirkes fear into an opponent's hear other than Braun and Fielder? This is just life without the good Weeks.
  11. It wasn't all Julio. Prince butchered a play pretty badly in there. And there is teh dcision-making behind it all as well.
  12. The Easter when Dale won the game to keep the streak alive?
  13. Well, Julio was facing the bottom of the order. I think Macha just didn't believe it would get away from him that quickly and that he would have time to staunch teh bleeding if Julio messed it up. It all just fell apart too quickly, and then the dfense didn't help either. I don't think this is a great rationale, but I think it's the most plausible explanation.
  14. Wow, Florida fans are one out away from being disappointed with a five run inning.
  15. Any bets on what Florida ends teh inning with? I'm guessing double digits.
  16. I don't know if Hardy could have made that play. Slow roller, wet ball. Prince's play was inexcusable.
  17. You know, there is a kind of nostalgic feel to this in-game thread now.
  18. In my first season after T-Ball, my Dad was the our coach and he let me pitch in our first game. I plunked the first three kids I faced, though I still blame the third on being distracted by the kid crying on first base. My Dad took me out an I never pitched an inning of organized baseball again in my life. I think my Dad felt roughly like Macha is feeling right now.
  19. Anyone remember the 'Bad Idea Jeans' commercial spoof from the old SNL days? I think this inning would have qualified for a line in that sketch.
  20. Vote for the Brewers early and often. Who cares if they 'deserve' it? In a lot of years only about 25% of the guys who the fans vote in 'deserve' it. If the All-Star game really is "about the fans" then Brewer fans should publicly demonstrate that depth of passion can outweigh sheer demographics. And when JJ is voted in, someone from Brewerfan.net can go on ESPN and say " Most of us think probably deserves it, but Brewer fans have always been unappreciated, and WE deserve it. If the 5 million people in the state of Wisconsin and some thousands of fans scattered around the country can make this happen for a poster child of small-market baseball, I don't want to hear a peep from the big markets and big media. You had your chance. You lost, we won. Deal with it."
