  1. How can it be a playoff atmosphere if there is only one playoff worthy team in the park? Honestly, if I was BA or Rock I'd be going nuts right now. I guess they have to hold their tongues or they don't get a ride back to Milwaukee.
  2. Where does that leave us here at brewerfan.net?
  3. http://www.coolstandings.com/charts/2008_coolstats_s_MIL.jpg Think I saw something similar in 1929.
  4. This is comical. All you can do is laugh.
  5. You left out 1-2 and 7-8-9, plus the starting pitchers not named Sabathia and the bullpen.
  6. With the collapse of the Cards, I'm feeling pretty confident about the Crew finishing no worse than 3rd in the division.
  7. Is the losing really a shock? Other than a few bolts of lightning against STL, this team has stunk against any team with a pulse in the second half of the year. CC Sabathia has singlehandedly covered up the stink. This team is all intermittent flash, lacking any semblance of fundamental substance to fall back on when the flash is gone. Add in a complete lack of direction from above and it's a wonder that this team is STILL holding on the the wildcard lead, at least for a few hours. I'm just glad my Dad has Twins season tix. Still a decent shot that I'll be able to watch some live playoff baseball ths year, but I dont' konw that I'll even go if I get the chance. More than likely I'll just tune out until at least the spring.
  8. CV is one of the few I almost trust in a tight spot late in the game. I'd rather have him there than in the long role.
  9. Pitching Lidge was a good move. Probably wouldn't throw him twice tomorrow anyway, and he pretty much removed all doubt for today. I should have put my post in blue.
  10. I'm confused. Lidge is in and it's not a save situation?
  11. Too easy, but it needs to be said - Why rob the fans in Milwaukee of a chance to see good baseball?
  12. The games against Cinci are at Great American Bandbox. 6 remaining home games are PIT and CHC.
  13. The percentages also say teh Brewers will make the playoffs, but how many of us are really putting faith in those numbers at this moment? Other than against STL, the Brewers have been not only beaten by 'good' teams after the AS break, they've been *destroyed*. The real kick in the groin if the Brewers lose out on the psotseason won't be getting beat by the good teams that have consistently demonstrated that they deserve it, it will be the fact that the Brewers may well be mathmatically eliminated at home by the Pittsburgh Pirates, or may look back at next weekends Cinci series as a backbreaker.
  14. Where have you gone Ryan Braun. Brewer Nation turns its lonely eyes to you. All we need is one spark and this could turn around, even for just a game.
  15. As far as I can tell dl, Yost is a gritty battler who is willing to pull out all the stops to win this game, tomorrow's DH be darned. I admire the attitude, but not the execution. Settling for two last inning and pitching McClung this inning would have been fine. (Hell, McClung may have put up a better AB last inning too). Of course, this leaves aside the question of why McClung came in after Dillard barely broke a sweat.
  16. Is the intent here to extend CV in this game? If it is, I just don't get it at all. He may be one of the few guys I trust in a tight late game situation, and they're throwing him now?
  17. Well, with a two-fer on tap for tomorrow, maybe you settle for two runs there and hope to build next inning, without burning up another pen arm. At his point I think you have to meta-game.
  18. On the booing issue, this is Philly, and Brewer fans would have put them to shame there.
  19. Well, at least they got multiple hits in an inning. The longest journey starts with a small step.
  20. Dang, I hoped they were just heading to Los Angeles, period.
  21. If they dont make the playoffs, I get rid of everyone in the baseball operation other than Jack Z on the management side, and I take a hard look at everyone on the player side other than Braun, Hardy and Yo.
  22. Lucky for you, Series. It's a dreary weather day here in Wisconsin, and the Badgers don't play until late tonight. So here we are. Did all my chores and errands this morning to prepare for the rest of the day in front of the TV. Good time this half-inning to change from Brewer apparel into Badger gear. I'm afraid to do so until after the game, though, so as to avoid transferring the stink.
  23. I don't think the Crew is wiried to produce 5 pitch ABs. Hamels is gonna throw strikes, and the Brewers are just going to miss them right now.
  24. Howard didn't even have to dig out that throw from third. Haven't seen that in a while.
  25. They need McClung tommorrow when Bush's frisbees lead to three Philly homers in the first 2 2/3 innings.
