  1. Only 34 days 'till the Badger football opener at Camp Randall. And I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance.
  2. Time to change the team name to the Milwaukee Enrons.
  3. That was exciting. And with Turnbow and Cordero in the wings we probably get to see it again today. It's a cardio workout without leaving my living room!
  4. Another terrible Fielder K in an AB when he simply needs to move guys over. It hurt them yesterday, and hopefully it won't come back to bite them today.
  5. Barring what would be a miracle given their late-inning track record this season, the Brewers will fall to even with the Cubs in the loss column for the first time since April 9th on a day in which they blow a 6-run lead, Francisco Cordero loses his second straight game, the Cubs beat 10-2 Aaron Harang and the Brewers lose to 0-10 Anthony Reyes, managing only two hits off a guy having one of the worst seasons in MLB. Everything else is just details.
  6. Is Shouse the only member of the bullpen who hasn't been at least figuratively kicked square in the nuts over the past 10 days?
  7. I beleive the correct answer to the question "When was the last time the Breers and Cubs were tied in the loss column?" is April 9. By posting the answer preemptively, I'm hoping we won't be needing that answer in anything but a hypothetical situation for at least a day, if ever..
  8. Scuffling against bad starting pitchers has been a strength of the Brewers this season.
  9. Well, Coco has gotten himself in trouble in the past and gotten out of it. He just isn't getting out of it anymore. He simply isn't as good as his best innings lead us to hope he is. Saw this coming back when they simply didn't score when they had chances to blow it open. Prince didn't move over runners on 1st and second with nobody out in one AB Didn't score that inning. Other litttle things too numerous to mention. This sucks. If they lose to 0-10 Reyes will that be worse?
  10. How much would anyone be willing to pay to watch a pay-per-view MMA bout between Counsell and Eckstein, with Daron Sutton on the play-by-play?
  11. We should get a 2-for-the-price-of-one profanity discount today in recognition of the doubleheader.
  12. Yep, Prince is scuffling. Lots of Gwynn/Estrada type ABs lately it seems. On a probably unrelated note, does he look a bit heavier to anyone else? Hope I'm wrong, but I think there will be some drama in this game yet.
  13. That's funny. I thought the Brewers were in first place. Doesn't matter how you're playing right now. It only matters who played the best over an entire season. And that's still the Crew to this point. I could vent about a lot of stuff with respect to the team tonight, but I guess I'd rather vent about somewhat misdirected vents. GABP has been a house of frustration for the Brewers for a long time. Granted, there have been many more highs there than at PNC Park, but that park and team in Cinci just hasn't been a good matchup for the Crew. A win tomorrow yields a split. Then find a way to split in St Louis and the roadtrip is a success. Win tomorrow and find a way to win 3 of 4 in St Louis and teh trip is an almost unqualified success, regardless of what the Cubs do. And It doesn't matter how young the guys are: Everyone needs a day off every so often. Acting like every game is a must win only increases the pressure on the individuals on the team. The simple fact is that tonight one Red got it done in one AB with the bases juiced. The Brewers had two such ABs and didn't get it done.
  14. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2005 Milwaukee Brewers!
  15. So theobvious next question is, who goes down when Hall comes back this week? I'd think it's gotta be Gwynn, at least until after the 8 in 7 roadie ends, at which point they probably send Parra back down to get regluar work. I can't imagine they'll take any chances at leaving themselves short in then pen, given the schedle they're facing. Of course, with the deadline looming, things could change without notice.
  16. First consecutive losses at home since May 18-19 to the Twins. The team seems to be playing the same way they did in that series and the week or so that followed. Pitching giving up a lot of runs and the offense, though still capable of exploding on a given night, simply not consistent at all in terms of creating chances (much less converting them). Just gotta hope for salvaging one tomorrow, and then not completely spitting the bit on the marathon roadie coming up. Cinci weather doesn't look too bad in terms of humidity, but I have a feeling St Louis next weekend might be a drainer. I hate that park in Cinci for Brewer pitching anyway, and I fear that may be the once-a season series where 3 of the four games will just chew up the pen. I just don't like teh Brewers chances at much in a slugfest right now, and GABP has only been slightly less frustrating than PNC, though for different reasons.. Really hope I'm wrong about Cinci as it likely only gets tougher over the weekend with 4 games in 3 days.. Gotta hang on to the division lead here, because I don't really like the idea ofturning the page on teh month and having to come back to MP after a tough roadie to then take on the Mets and Phils.
  17. A: Estrada's final AB Q: Can you give me a good example of the term "adding insult to injury"?
  18. A: Gasoline Q: If Spurling were an Audioslave tune, which one would he be?
  19. Except for thos series in which they won the first game. And in which they looked capable of scoring in the second game. I didn't say it was a done deal, or even probable I said there was a 'fair chance'. Through 5 today, those odds appear to be increasing. I don't like at all what appears to be a slow erosion of the offense, throughout the lineup, on both a team and individual level.
  20. We also would have accepted as correct A: I'll stop as soon as the downward-trending Brewers hit a ball hard somehwere.
  21. Unless the Brewers make a rare (for them) late inning rally withe the bottom of the order, there is a fair chance they get swept this weekend, given the pitching matchups and the current offensive woes.
  22. Turnbow vs Bonds. This could be dramatic, no matter how it turns out.
  23. That was a combination Gwynn/Estrada AB. Still have no idea how the hell CV was allowed to pitch to the next batter after he loaded 'em up.
  24. Not to rain on the parade of ESPN hate, which I would love to be lead down Wisconsin Avenue, but you really can't rag on them about hockey and NASCAR. NASCAR is huger than the mainstream team sports peoplefans ever want to acknowledge. ESPN had to get involved in that bonanza As for hockey: one of the Stanley Cup games on NBC lost in the ratings head-to-head against 'Build a Better Burger' on the Food Network. The NHL cut its own throat long before ESPN dumped them. As for the "jocks", I always liked HR more than any of them on BBTN. As for the Cub love, anyone who compares teh brief fling that ESPN had with the Crew as they embarked on teh NY/Philly road trip with the constant 24/7 attention the Cubs have gotten on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNews all season, even as they were losing, needs to reexamine their thinking. It's pretty plain that ESPN would love nothing better than for the CUbs to be teh new Red Sox. Most national "journalists" are hypocrites. They say "I don't root for teams, I root for a good story" but that's pretty much false. They root for the easy story that appeals to the biggest audience. The Brewers are a good story, but they simply wouldn't be as big (in terms of audience) or easy a story as the Cubs finally winning.
  25. Considering Ramirez stood there admiring his double for about 5 seconds before he started running tonight, any Cubs fan who says anything about Braun needs to just shut up.
