  1. Meth, youth, idiocy. And people who think at least two of the three in combination are cool. And god I hate feeling like a crotchety old man at the age of 43. I have gotten to the point where I simply watched the video after a while the past two nights with no audio. For some reason it's really (inexplicably) highly annoying to me. Maybe just a sub-optimal week contributing to that feeling. I'm sure the whole thing will pass. Hopefully soon.
  2. 'Stros win, 2-0. E# stays at 4. Skipping work, watch the game tomorrow. Self employed, so the boss doesn't care.
  3. Weighing in late, but in the Badgers loss against Oregon State, replay actually managed to overturn a CORRECT call on the field at the end of the game. Nobody cared too much because UW looked bad pretty much the whole game, but it did cost them a shot at winning. If every play is subject to immediate review, as it is in college football, replay will actually make thing *worse* unless the replay officials have a lower error rate than the crew on the field. Add in the whole continuing action aspect of baseball and you need to really think about exactly how you want to make replay work in baseball. Anything that makes the game better should be embraced; just make sure you're making it better first. Anyhow, let's see the Crew get another one tomorrow afternoon and see what happens when they get home.
  4. A win tomorrow and they'll at least have half a chance when they get home (provided the 'Stros don't blow this tonight). I guess that's all we can ask at this point. I just want MP to be electric for these guys to finish out the season. They've earned it down the stretch.
  5. I agree with the logic of that position, but crazy as it may be, there are an awful lot of people, including those inside baseball, who think exactly the way I described. OK Crew, let's just find a way to win 8 in a row and see what happens.
  6. Yep. Best crew can get to is 88 right now. With 6 wins Cards can get to 89. Thus the Brewers current Elim number is 6. A Crew loss tonight drops it to 5. A Cards win tonight would further reduce it to 4.
  7. Elim number may well be at 4 after tonight. I really hate it. And for the love of God, somebody please beat these "woo" idiots into unconsciousness at every opportunity.
  8. I have to admit that after a really bad night and day, and not only for Packer-related reasons, the Fiers 'stache is tremendous.
  9. I'd feel better about this whole thing if the Brewers hadn't faced Gonzalez, Zimmerman and Cueto in 3 of thier last 4 starts while the Cards get to take BP off the NL equivalent of the replacement referees. WHile I posted in the another thread that I think everybody will play to win the rest of the way, I really beleive nobody will shed any tears if the hot Brewers get bumped out.
  10. The Reds will try to win every game. If anything, the Cards might catch a break depending on whether the Reds do anything funky with their starting pitching in order to get things lined up for the NLDS, but otherwise there is too much out of their control to try to engineer anything in terms of matchups.
  11. All I know is that if this really happens, and maybe even if it doesn't, Torts deserves a free lifetime membership to Brewerfan.net.
  12. That exactly how it felt, at least to me, watching from 1000 miles away.
  13. If that's not the first time that sentence has been written in English, it's certainly the first time it's been written here.
  14. Whew. Just get it back home with a reasonable chance, boys.
  15. I've seen too much crazy stuff today to be at all comfortable with this situation right now.
  16. I'm suffering from sports overload right now. I'm just happy some of the Brewers stress is off at this moment, or I'd be dead.
  17. Another non-baseball note: The Titans-Lions game has been insane.
  18. Nice to see the Braves keep winning. WOuld be good if the Nats need to win those game when they get to STL.
  19. It really feels like the Brewers should have done more offensively early. Of course, Nats fans probably feel the same, but all in all getting Yo out in a tie game against Wang is advantage Nats. Non-baseball note: How in the heck are the Vikes pretty much taking it to the Niners?
  20. Yep, the Cubs let them get away. I guess the good news it that is isn't worse.
