  1. Haven't liked a single thing about this game since the Kottaras bunt.
  2. I guess if there is a silver lining to the Greinke outing it's that when he had the same sort of game last year he would have given up a few cheapies and then given up a blast. Of course they are playing the no-power Cubs and the wind is mostly favorable today. On the Parra frustration factor, can anybody come up with a position player who was similarly apparently talented and frustration inducing? Going way back I guess Glenn Braggs sort of loosely fits, if for no other reason than he never killed a pitcher on a comebacker as everyone expected would happen sooner or later.
  3. Without regard to what happens today, how long do you continue the Parra bullpen residency before you cut bait? I can't see him lasting the whole year. I hope he pitches well enough that he does, but I just don't think it will happen.
  4. When the shortstop makes a perfect play and throws it to the perfect spot, it's not his fault if the first baseman decides to play a different game by running to second base. Edit: sorry it this came off as nasty. Just one of those days.
  5. I wouldn't care if I got kicked out of the official scorer's union: that's not an E6.
  6. That inning reminded me of a lot of Bears wins. Score 3 points on offense and 14 points on defense and special teams.
  7. I was gonna go there, but decided to go with the question about the Cubs instead.
  8. Is it too early to wonder if whoever beats up on the Cubs the most is going to make the playoffs, as when the Crew won the wildcard largely thanks to destroying the Pirates?
  9. The Brewers have a ton of outs in this series that were hit better than the majority of the Cubs hits.
  10. You'll never see a more classic example of "The ball beat him so he's out" than that play right there.
  11. I don't think I've ever seen a ball hit that hard and not go out. Ramirez got shafted too.
  12. The way they're running the bases maybe they should wear the magic underwear every night. That stuff looks like some manufacturer's new standard cold weather gear. Wonder if we'll see other teams wearing it. Agree that it does look over-the-top.
  13. Gomez earned that run three times. Double, moving up on thorw and with the slide.
  14. You left out bunting, but that's maybe more of a prerequisite than a qualification.
  15. I lived in South Florida for a number of years about 20 years ago. All I'll say is that you really can't have a full appreciation of the situation down there without having really been exposed to it. If he had said the same thing just 20 years ago (yes, the Marlins didn't exist then, but hypothetically) I don't think he would have kept his job.
  16. Berthiaume got in a shot at Braun/Brewers fans yesterday in a column at ESPN the other day which argued that the Brewers starting pitching is middle of the pack. Let's face it. Braun is guilty to the vast majority of people and Brewers fans who defend him are just doing it out of blind loyalty. The only people whose opinion matters are the cynical "realists" in big market media. It's going to be the story that's run out there not just season but for many seasons to come. Most people don't want to know the story behind the story or what goes on behind the scenes. They want the media to give them an easily digestible morality tale and that's what they're going to get.
  17. Lots of bad this inning, but you get what you deserve when you run Parra and Dillard out there in a game at Wrigley where the wind is blowing out. One more out . . .
