Another series loss. 6 in the last 8. Yeah, the first pitch popup is just infuriating. I can see wanting to ambush a first pitch, but you have to pick your spot and maybe ambush a guy who is actually going to hit a predictable spot. Hard to ambush a guy who is all over the lot, and who has all the pressure on him.

Enjoy it for what it's worth. Rickie is OPSing 110 points higher than Albert Pujols so far this season. For those who have watched Rickie all season, that's pretty hard to fathom.

Yeah, but he still has 2 functional ACLs! We will not know that until we see if he has any lateral movement. Not sure how you would conduct such an experiment with Yuni. The ususal method of hitting ground balls to one side or the other may not provide much usuable data. -
Going without the Brewers on TV for two days in a row on Wed and Thurs is not generating the same feelings it did a year ago.

Continue to be amused by my 9th grade daughter. She wasn't watching the game, but she just walked through when BA announced Manny Parra was warming in the pen. She paused for just a beat and said "Oh yay. Manny Parra" about as deadpan as possible. She then went about her business. She may be too much of a cynic. Either that or she needs a front office job. End of regulation in the Rangers/Caps game was nice, if you're a Rangers fan. Yes, I'm having a tough time staying focused here.

I don't mind a big zone, but it's got to be a big zone that the pitcher is hitting intentionally, rather than the pitcher making a bad pitch and then the ump bailing him out with seemingly arbitrary calls. I guess if it goes both ways that lessens the impact a bit, but it seems like Arroyo is getting bailed out here to a greater degree than Estrada will be.

Even taking all the injuries into account, you look at today's lineup and, other than Izturis being in there, I think most would have been happy with it back on opening day is they had just the lineup card in their hand. I guess what I'm saying is that the gloom-and-doom is mostly an attitude. The injuries aren't good from the depth perspective at all, and the Gamel injury might have repercussions down the line for him, but the season is still in front of them and unless the Cards run away and hide the division is still there to be taken.
