  1. Steve Palazzolo continues his post Brewer career with the AA Connecticut Defenders (Giants) of the Eastern League. Thus far 2-0 1.52 ERA in 11 games with 23 strikeouts in 23 innings and a 1.14 WHIP. Not bad for a guy the Brewers released in spring of 2007. At 6' 10", this guys certainly offers a different perspective out of a reliever.
  2. Well, I haven't seen anything official, but here's a pic of Eric Farris from last nite's Power game...so I guess you have to say, he is in WV!http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/4b33527397f57093e152cabee7a50aa2bd72059.jpg
  3. Dr. Wood: Your points about the pictures are well taken, and I agree. I would like to hear more what you guys think about LaPorta and Braun as to how they will be similar or disimilar on there path to the bigs, be it from the time frame, the position path, and what qualities you see in them from the offensive standpoint one from the other. I just thought it was kinda cool seeing what could be the Brewer future outfield corners in a picture like that, didn't really mean I thought the stances etc were too similar.
  4. I watched both these guys last year in Charleston....Bramhall is my sleeper pick, or my guy most likely to break out in the prospect rankings. He pitched at a strong baseball school in Rice, and really knows how to pitch and had the guys in the SAL really off balance here. I think he's probably being used just fine. He reminds me of Joe Thatcher in that they seemed like guys who were primed to move up quick. I think the word is they showed maturity and a lower level of ball. Aguilar on the other hand, raw, closer talent to the max! He learns to harness the control issues, which it looks like he is on his way, I say the sky is the limit. The fastball can hit 100, and I look for him to rise as long as he fixes any control issues. To me, these guys are both sleeper prospects in the system. We traded away Thatcher, Inman and Garrison for the likes of Linebrink, I think we need more and more guys like these two in the system, and perhaps those of you who like to rank prospects should see more prospect love for guys like these two...just my two cents from a guy who watched them both pitch last year!
  5. Only reason I'd like to hear other comparison on LaPorta and Braun, is that I saw both of them here in Charleston. My opinion is that LaPorta seemed to hit the ball harder here. Not just out of the park harder, but overall whether foul ball or fair, he seemed to punish the ball. I know that Braun just blew up after he left Charleston and continues today...but I'm not sure LaPorta isn't capable of doing the same, and seems to be on his way to the bigs soon. I am a relative novice in watching the Brewer prospects, but thus far I haven't been too far off....thus, I'd like to hear some of your opinions on the comparison between these guys from anyone who may have had the pleasure of watching both of them hit.
  6. I know I've posted this pic before, but given his new status as #1, and the way he's been hitting the ball thus far, I'd like to hear some of you experts give us a little compare and contrast discussion on these two guyshttp://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/ecf25d29f67b1ed7c1be07e35009e4e7189ac41.pjpg
  7. No Brewer error in the box score...only one listed there was for Seidel.
  8. Angel has the average up to .310...and now come the HR's....I still think this guy is the #1 catcher of the near future!
  9. For those of you who like to watch Zach, I have updated my photo site with some pics from yesterday's start: www.jdblackwell.shutterfly.com The pictures at the end was from a challenger game that took place after yesterday's game with some local kids. EDIT: Activated link
  10. Looked just like he picked up where he left off last season. Much more in control and confident today! Great outing!http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/04e35c5b9f767b69e91dcf75ee3a7e2b2808f7a.jpg
  11. Braddock goes 2 innings, 44 pitches, 0 runs, 0 hits, 2 BB and 3 K's.....Not a bad first go at it!
  12. Here's a pick of Anundsen from last nite for those of you who haven't seen him before. Really does a nice job inducing the ground balls and probably made it through close to 100 pitch outing yesterday...not bad for April!http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/5da2552924722ecbc5ee39718a55e06cb7e9ea8.jpg
  13. Gindl goes deep twice today....here's a shot moments before the first one!http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/3d1356ad9270799aea4fc5bcee3782a4a7bf6f9.jpg
  14. After watching him play last year, I think he's a 20 HR kinda guy, but you have to remember, I think he is just 21 and some of these guys are still learning to slug with wooden bats....that could make him something potentially more some day.
  15. Agent 39, my post about his errors was really just what I said. He doesn't appear that comfortable at short. He'll string a couple good games together, and you think he is getting it, and then he just looks uncomfortable making routine plays. I hope SS is the place because he is a talented player but even that, he's still got Alcides above him in the minors. I just think that moving him around some might make a little sense because he continues to struggle with some routine plays. My post was actually indicative of the frustration of the fans here watching him in Charleston, to say that he is taking flack from the crowd which I'm sure doesn't help matters for him! If he is comfortable at short, more power to him, and I hope he continues to get better!
  16. Steve Palazzolo, the 6' 10" RHP released by the Brewers last Spring is 1-0 in 7IP 2H 0R 6BB 9K with a .095Avg for the Connecticut Defenders, AA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Got to know this guy while he was in Charleston and he was pretty serious about his game....I'd say keep an eye on this guy this season!
  17. Let's put it this way guys, at last nite's game after Brewer made yet another error, there were offers from a fan in the stands to purchase him a ticket to Helena! He's looked good in a couple games, but it's almost like he tries to rush everything and just doesn't have the "knack" of shortstop. At this level if he doesn't get it soon, perhaps a position change might be in order...there's too many chances up the middle to be uncomfortable at the position.
  18. Bryson pitched his 2 and 1/3 in the 45 degree rain...I don't think he was left in too long, just conditions and the help of his shortstop that saddled him with the loss. I think he can dominate both with a mid-90's fastball and an offspeed pitch that runs 20mph slower! http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/5ca35afa981b7332e832cba9e12222ce2feebfd.jpg
  19. Looks like Darren Ford might have to work a little to lead the system in SB this year. Lee Haydel picks up #'s 7 & 8 last nite!
  20. With tomorrow being game #5 for Huntsville...does that mean we should see Angel this week?
  21. And don't forget that just 2 years ago we had the 6'10" Steve Palazollo who is now with the Eastern League Connecticut Defenders (AA team of the San Francisco Giants...how appropriate!)
  22. Last discussion we had with a couple players in Hickory says its still raining there! ARRGGHH!
  23. You guys keep your eyes on Bobby Bramhall down in Brevard. He really had the hitters off balance here in WV at the end of last year, and it looks like two strong innings tonite!
  24. This is very, very good stuff!! You guys (and gal) are to be commended! I think maybe Corey Hart may be the impact big league guy this year (along with Yo). I was thoroughly impressed with LaPorta here in WV last year, and I thought he was big league ready when he left here, but the more I think about him....where's he gonna play with the Brewers? If he has a Braun like Power #'s season, somebody is gonna have to move (maybe even him) to get to the bigs anytime soon. My minor league impact guy is gonna be Angel and/or Jeffress...these guys will rebound huge! I think Jeffress will be on the fast track this year (98 mph fast track). Anyhow, it should be a fun year, and thanks for all the analysis and info....PLAY BALL!
  25. And our guys start on the road after a Tuesday exhibition, and a Wednesday "meet the team" open practice....thus you can see how the apartment hunting will be tough! Thanks for the information! (I'm just not a patient guy this time of year!!)
