Okay, but why would Arizona want him? For the same reason the 2019 Brewers found value is former perceived prospect bust Trent Grisham - we as stupid fans tend to give up on this guys long before intelligent front office people deem their careers to be over. Okay but Grisham has never posted an OBP lower than Ray at any level while also being several years younger than the average player at these levels with good walk and strikeout rates. Ray has none of that going for him. -

They were a team that got to play teams that lost 89 or more games in 53% of their games and they went 40 over .500 against them. It's not mental, they just aren't a particularly good team when they have to play other teams that actually have talent.

I'm still trying to figure out why Bumgarner would sign only a 2 year deal at far less than the QO AAV. He doesn't get long term security. He doesn't get big money on a short term deal. There's really no incentive to sign that contract.

This makes us older and less controllable, so no. And the Mariners are already shedding a ton of salary this winter. I don't think Haniger's $5 million or whatever it's going to be is going to be that big of a deal for them.

I think Pomeranz, coming off a horrible year, singed with the Giants for about $3 million. I would expect him to double that as a reliever. My bad - yeah, he clearly mentioned Pomeranz. Not sure why I thought he was talking about Lyles in that situation? But, I guess my argument still holds - is Pomeranz really going to go from a 1 yr 1.5M deal with the Giants to all of a sudden getting 6-6.5M per? That seems like an awfully big raise for a guy that had a couple of good months out of the pen this year? I'd probably be on board for 2 yr 8-9M type deal for him, but 12-13M seems a bit high to me. Anthony Swarzak never made $1 million in a season, had a great year in relief and turned it into a 2/14 contract. Now obviously that contract didn't work out but I'd be shocked if some team didn't at least go 2/10 for him and try him out as a reliever.

The first 7 innings the Brewers gave up 3 hits and 0 walks. Hader gave up 2 hits and a walk in his inning and one of his outs came on the bases. He did get unlucky as hell with that broken bat single. I don't disagree but he also threw under half of his pitches for strikes and generally just looked bad out there. Blaming Grisham (and giving Hader no blame) for giving the Nats the lead when Hader had already given the Nats at least a tie based on his poor pitching seems way over the top.

I'd imagine it's a lot like an Amsterdam brothel. Amazingly fun but you have to clench your butt hole occasionally.
