  1. Totally. The ball would be in the air about 300 feet from the plate and the next pitch is being delivered. I saw posts like this on another baseball forum. I thought this was happening too but wasn't there an ump behind the hitters gestering when another ball could be pitched? There is but I'm guessing they wouldn't mind the hometown guy getting a few extra swings in or maybe Harper and his dad decided to go rogue and dare the umpires to take away any home runs he hit before the last ball landed.
  2. This tweet from earlier this morning... Why call Diaz the Dodgers' top OF prospect. Isn't it widely agreed that Verdugo is their top OF prospect? Calling something what it isn't smacks of some Oriole smokescreen. I think it just means outfielder who happens to be a top prospect. It doesn't mean "their top outfield prospect."
  3. Don't particularly want Machado even without including Burnes.
  4. Not that I'm complaining but they were being pretty generous to Harper at the end on those ball has to land before the next pitch.
  5. This was going to be my point. The only players you could argue are in the star category offensively are Aguilar, Thames and maybe Cain. And Thames and Aguilar in the star category is a problem because Thames shouldn't be an outfielder but we have to play him there if we want to get his bat in the lineup. Shaw, Yelich and Saladino (and who knows if Saladino can even continue what he's done so far) would be in the average or slightly above category for me. Not stars but not a drag on the lineup like Perez, Pina, Arcia etc. are.
  6. And play him where?
  7. I have no idea but all it takes is one 95 mph fastball slipping out of Scherzer's hand and hitting Machado in the hand. Like I said, it would suck for the fans but I wouldn't really want Machado playing in the game if I was running the Orioles.
  8. Ahh yes, there are also thousands upon thousands of drunk drivers on opening day as well according to him.
  9. Josh Harrison too who had a lot of fans here for I still have no idea what reason.
  10. Man, I wouldn't risk Machado rolling an ankle on the base or getting hit on the hand in a meaningless all-star game. If they get an agreement, as much as it would suck for the fans, I'd trade him before the game.
  11. Ehh, I think an older player riding a younger player and reporting back to the manager happens in very few clubhouses, my guess is probably just the Cardinals. It's also coming from a pretty well known piece of crap in Bud Norris.
  12. Yea Cardinals fans have been clamoring for this for awhile it seems, and the whole Norris/Hicks situation is just unacceptable in my opinion. Matheny seemed to get a real kick out of it too, not good. What is this? I've seen it mentioned a few other places. https://deadspin.com/extremely-cardinals-report-mike-matheny-respects-bud-n-1827528307
  13. I have to think that blowout today along with the Jordan Hicks/Bud Norris thing where Matheny comes off as a giant dope was the final straw.
  14. They kind of did it to themselves trading for decent to good major leaguers.
  15. Hey, that's your opinion and it's a reasonable opinion. However, if the team is saying September then having the opposing opinion isn't unreasonable either. Calling those with that opposing view point "foolish" isn't going to get you anything but animosity. You're point is valid, make it without being hostile about it. Geez, some of you need to stop being such snowflakes.
  16. Everyone said moving from Marlins Park to Miller Park would do wonders for his power. But he hits the ball on the ground a ton. Like top 10 highest GB% rate this year and top 5 since he came to the majors. Not going to increase your power when you're hitting it on the ground all the time. I called him Geoff Jenkins in the game thread yesterday but Jenkins had a good arm and power.
  17. I for one am absolutely shocked that guys who fluked their way to career years aren't repeating them and I will only blame the hitting coach for this. I even said in my post I'm sure a lot of this isn't on Coles, but you just think guys like Santana, Arcia, and Villar...just suck, or what? I don't think Villar or Arcia are especially talented hitters. Santana this year is a lot like Yelich. He's hitting the ball hard, he's just hitting it on the ground a lot (-5% LD% compared to last year, +6% GB%.)

  19. He pitched 145 innings last year. Make him the 5th starter and assume the absolute best case scenario where he goes 7 innings in all of his 12 starts. That would give him 84 innings on top of the 82.2 he's pitched this year. That gives him 166.2 innings, not exactly a drastic increase and you could also skip a start or two in September if necessary. This has nothing to do with my post. The starters barely going 5 innings (5.3 average from the starters this year) is a problem because it forces the bullpen to cover at minimum 3 innings per game on average which leads to a lot of overuse which limits the effectiveness of one of the team's biggest strengths.
  20. If Counsell is keeping Burnes in the bullpen while the rest of these clowns struggle to make it through 5 innings then Counsell is going to face more criticism, as he and Stearns should.
  21. I think you're probably looking at Hiura+ to get something like that done.
  22. Yelich is like Geoff Jenkins. I have no idea why he's revered on here. That's a big insult to Jenkins's arm. True. And his power.
