  1. It might actually be to his benefit that he throws 85-87. Hitters are used to seeing 92-95 so when you take 7-10 mph off of that, it's tough to adjust. That's why he's best suited for relief.
  2. I swear Brian calls Pina Pena just to piss me off at this point.
  3. Braun would be batting .400 if not for Arenado.
  4. Nothing is stopping you from making a GT and only mods can pin threads.
  5. Guerra out 4-6 weeks
  6. The difference is he would be pitching in Carolina for us. All that would mean is he's not ready for the major leagues but we wouldn't have to have him in the major leagues.
  7. Rivera would be. I don't think anyone would argue that. Rivera might not OPS .600 though.
  8. With teams like the Twins in desperate need of pitching (who originally selected him) and the Padres starting a complete tear down, it was pretty obvious that he was going to be taken and likely stick on a major league roster. We claimed like two guys who took 40 man spots like jericho said earlier and ended up waiving Gennett in spring training. They could've easily just non-tendered Gennett or not made a claim but it's pretty obvious that Diaz had legitimate talent, even though he had never pitched above A ball he was likely to get taken and stick on a major league roster. Hell, the Padres are so bad they'll probably end up starting him and get him the innings he needs to increase his workload to around 150 innings in the minors next year. The worst part is we didn't even need to put him in the majors, just put him on the 40 man, let him continue to work as a starter and see where he goes. If nothing else it looks like you have the makings of a potential shut down reliever.
  9. Look at some of the players on our 40 man. I'll take a 22 year old throwing 98 with ridiculous movement over at least 5 guys on our 40 man roster right now.
  10. With all the crap on our 40 man roster currently, we couldn't make room for a 22 year old that's throwing 98 with ridiculous movement.
  11. I really hate this. I know people will cite that website that ranked the angles in stadiums, but I never have liked CF cameras. I actually agree. Of course I always have gameday up so I don't need a CF camera angle to see if the pitch is a strike. Ours isn't even centered either. It's slightly to right field.
  12. I guess I don't really see the problem with that play. Edit: It looked catchable. Thames barely jumped to try to catch it.
  13. So Reynolds fouls a ball off his foot hard enough where the trainer has to come out, gets on base and then tries to steal. Smrt baseball.
  14. Man, I do not envy right handed hitters that have to face Ottavino. Not only does he throw 95, his slider has ridiculous movement, his arm angle makes it so the ball almost looks like it's starting from behind you and he moves along the rubber during the at bat. The second to last pitch to Perez he was on the 1st base side. The last pitch he was on the 3rd base side.
  15. But it also makes it so he has no idea where his pitches are going and it makes him kind of terrible.
  16. Brewers didn't " flirt" with 100 losses at any time Lucroy wore a Brewer uniform. Your assertion is completely false. Cardinals finished 17 1/2 games behind Cubs last year. My point is Cards reaction isn't we can't possibly compete so let's deal off our best players for supposed payoff 5-6 years down the road. Brewers tossed in the towel after 2 bad months, one that took them out of playoffs in 2014, and the resulting hangover in the first month of 2015. You'd never see the Cardinals do that and then ask their fans for patience. The Cardinals won 86 games last year and were 1 game out of a wildcard spot. The Brewers lost 88 games in 2013, had an unexpected competitive season in 2014 before they fell apart, lost 94 games, which despite what you say is close to losing 100 games while Lucroy was still on the team and sorry to piss in your snow cone again but you don't lose 94 games by having only a bad first month. With a terrible farm system and an aging, mediocre to bad roster, there was really only one option.
  17. Cravy got a $75,000 signing bonus that I'm sure he burned through pretty quickly after taxes/agent commission and considering how little minor league players make. The earning potential in the majors is for a very short period of time and when his baseball career comes to an end he's going to be pretty far behind others the same age in experience/credentials in getting a 9 to 5 job which will likely make it more difficult to get one or at least a decent paying one. So I don't blame him for doing what he did. Especially when he was apparently told it was an open competition in spring only to be have the rug pulled out from under him with an "lol, jk" from the GM and manager. He'll do fine salary wise in MiLB this year but once again, that's not going to last very long after he retires and/or is removed from the 40 man roster.
  18. Cravy shouldn't have said what he said but we're handling the bullpen this year like morons imo.
  19. For basically nothing since it's only 20 innings and they're only signed through this year. I don't get this at all. Why piss off one of your own players for someone as underwhelming as Hughes? Hell, we just got, then removed a Hughes clone from our 40 man roster and then had him compete for a bullpen job this year in Scahill.
