  1. It's pretty clear they haven't been going for a high draft pick since Stearns was hired.
  2. 9 pitchers pitched 210 innings last year. 24 pitchers had a 3.45 ERA or below. 9 pitchers had a FIP below 3.45. The list of pitchers to have 210 IP, an ERA and a FIP below 3.45 last year are the following. Johnny Cueto Max Scherzer Madison Bumgarner Corey Kluber Rick Porcello
  3. I'll believe it when I see it. Their minor league knowledge to me is basically just looking at the names production chooses from the night before. If it does happen though, I'll be furious and Stearns needs to immediately get on the phone to tell Rick Sweet to knock it off or just eat the money so nobody is tempted to write his name in the lineup, which is probably what I would do anyways. Guy is at best a 4th outfielder on our AAA team and we probably have a just as good 4th outfielder who's younger that can play all 3 positions.
  4. It's a total mystery why the Pirates cut Hughes in spring training.
  5. Weird, I didn't hear the Benny Hill theme song on that play but I should have.
  6. This announcer has no idea how pitcher wins are determined.
  7. At least the Bucks suck too so the Brewers aren't alone.
  8. Think the Brewers got a pretty huge break there. Looked like he was safe even in real time.
  9. With Cordell/Brinson/Phillips in AAA he would once again be the 4th outfielder. And if he isn't the 4th outfielder in AAA, then we're really stupid playing a 30 year old over an actual prospect.
  10. 3-1 lead and that OT was brutal. Oilers were just skating circles around them. At one point the shots were 13-2 (and it probably ended up like 15-3 or something without looking at the box score) and one of those shots was from center ice when the Sharks were gassed and needed a line change.
  11. SWEEP!
  12. Yes. Those people deserve a nice punch in the throat. Even worse are the people who don't pay attention and then ask what the previous bids were and then bid a dollar over. Why they continue to do that baffles me. Giving people a card to write down their bid would be a far better solution than this and yes I know there's a small chance that two people could bid the same thing. The last person bidding always has the advantage barring a perfect bid. It especially sucks for the last contestant up on the stage and then they have to bid first leaving them the possibility of being bid a dollar over and completely ruining their (likely) already sucky experience of only getting one chance to bid and likely losing. Also, Plinko sucks. I could be amazing at the first part of that game winning all 5 chips and still walk away with $0. Meanwhile, some idiot could play Punch a Bunch or something, get everything wrong except the free punch they give you and walk out with $10,000 or whatever the high number is for that game. While we're on game shows. I despise Wheel of Fortune. Those contestants are even worse than Price is Right. Really? You need to piss away $250 to buy a vowel when you can easily fill it in by thinking just a little bit about where the consonants are and what words could possibly be formed from those consonants? Oh, you have 3 L's, 4 R's and almost no money but you want to solve? Get bent, you wanker.
  13. This was 101 days before I was born.
  14. Funny how Counsell can appreciate John Jay fouling off pitches and never hesitate to run Nieuwehuis out there as a late inning pinch hitter when he's having trouble making any contact. You get what you pay for and Brewers aren't willing to spend even a little to bolster a bench with a proven major league bat. Yes, a bench bat would really change the entire outlook of the season.
  15. Jared Hughes is seriously terrible. I have no idea what Stearns or Counsell see in him.
  16. We have a .500 record with a .900 OPS from our catcher, almost 1.000 from 1B, almost .900 from Santana and a combined 1.46 ERA from Anderson, Peralta and Nelson. Do you honestly expect all of that (especially the pitching part) to continue? I mean, I could see Santana keeping this up and Villar and Broxton are likely to improve on their numbers but Thames has a .500 BABIP, Aguilar is .615, Pina is .429. That just isn't going to continue. Neither is the 100% strand rate of Anderson or the 94.3% strand rate of Nelson, the 100% strand rate of Feliz, the 85% strand rate of Hughes, the 100% strand rate of Barnes or the BABIPs below .235 for Nelson, Anderson, Knebel, Barnes, Hughes, Feliz and Torres I mean, we're bottom 10 in strikeouts from our pitchers, 4th worst in walks allowed, second best in home runs allowed (who thinks that's going to last?) And that has still only gotten us to a .500 record.
  17. So asking a legitimate question is somehow deemed offensive by some on here? Jesus.
  18. What if say Ray tops out as a .260/.325/.425 hitter but provides 60-65 grade defense in left field? That's likely as valuable if not more valuable than Braun in the next few years at a league minimum salary for 3 plus whatever we get in return for Braun.
  19. Stearns sure seems to love trading for old crap.
  20. Yes, last year the deal being talked about was Puig when the Dodgers were down on him, McCarthy when he was hurt and a couple of prospects of unknown quality though we can be pretty sure they weren't the Bellinger, Bueller type of prospect.
  21. GO PERDS
  22. I think it's pretty clear that last year was his absolute ceiling and he likely won't come near it again. He's looking a lot more like the guy that was DFA'd than the solid utility player. Why any pitcher throws him anything in the zone, I have no idea.
