  1. I agree but if you can get one, take one because people, for some reason are willing to pay quite a bit of money for them. I sold a minor league hockey player's bobblehead for $15 walking out of a game last year because some guy who wasn't at the game wanted one. That almost paid for the cost of the ticket.
  2. Why? People actually pay money for those.
  3. Smyly is much better than Peralta.
  4. Why even put Derek Law in if you're going to take him out after a ground ball barely sneaks through the infield? I honestly don't even know why Javier Lopez is on the playoff roster. He's a one batter pitcher and not even that great at his one job. Letting Romo face a lefty (I know Zobrist is a switch hitter) is less than ideal. Bochy botched that inning pretty hard.
  5. I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make here. We shouldn't be going anywhere near $8 million for a guy who could only get $2.5 million last offseason because if we don't and we trade this guy and replace him with that guy, our offense could be really bad when it was already really bad this year. That's not a reason to pay the guy. And if he turns us down because we non-tender him to save money, who cares? He has at best moderate trade value when he's producing at his highest level when he's on a cheap contract. If his production slips even a little bit and we pay him $5+ million, his trade value is basically none. I'd honestly do what the Astros did with him last year. Try to find a taker on the trade market and if we can't, non-tender him.
  6. Jaso got $8 million over 2 years and has a career .360 OBP. Hell, we could probably trade for Jaso so the Pirates can play Bell and save $4 million and not lose any value on the field. Jaso is super-terribad vs. Lefties, doesn't hit for power, has equally as bad defense as Carter, and worst of all, those dreadlocks. Carter had 1.1 WAR in 644 PA. Jaso had 0.7 WAR in 432 PA. They're essentially the same player with different strengths on offense, except if Carter's arbitration projection is accurate, Jaso would cost half as much. And if you're that concerned about Jaso vs lefties, you could just have Pinto or somebody platoon with him. I don't like Carter but if they can bring him back for $4-5 million, whatever. I won't like it but he's not really blocking anyone. If he asks for anywhere north of that though, non-tender him immediately.

  8. Not a chance I'd give Carter $8 million. Save that money for when the team is actually good and just go with Pinto or someone like that for the league minimum and not lose a ton of value anyways.
  9. He was claimed by a playoff team though. Showalter is going to use him over Britton.
  10. Would be difficult for the announcers in the Boston/Cleveland series to be more annoying. Ortiz is the greatest thing g since sliced bread. Pedroia is the grittiest battler in the history of gritty battlers. The supposedly awful swinging strike call to end the game and "hating to see the game end like that." One of them even refusing to change that stance even after replay showed Pedroia clearly swung seemingly because there was no way Pedroia would throw a hissy fit the way he did if he didn't actually swing.
  11. Are there any pitchers of note in the AFL this year? Seems like teams don't want to add more innings to their top guys by sending them there. Yes, several. And I'm not sure it even matters if the pitchers are good. Tebow looked really, really bad.
  12. Watched his swing and everything is so stiff and awkward. He's going to get destroyed in the AFL.
  13. If they want to show they cherish fans, maybe lower the prices on concessions.
  14. So Brian talks about how he'll never forget the 2008 season and then proceeds to give the wrong information on what actually happened in game 162.
  15. To be honest, Suter's bounced between the rotation the last couple of years. Two starts in the majors is a small sample size. I'd like to commit to Suter in the rotation for a year, and see how it goes. We know he can be a shut-down bullpen guy - a left-handed Doug Jones. But can he be more? Id like to find out. Worst case, he goes back to the pen as a shut-down reliever. Best case, he buys time for the top pitching prospects. I thought Suter is the top pitching prospect.
  16. Thanks to the results of various games tonight, the Brewers will be picking either 8th or 9th. The only chance the Brewers have of picking 8th is if the Phillies win their final 2 gamed and the Brewers lose their final 2 games.
  17. A's need to win out and the Brewers need to lose out otherwise we can't catch the A's. Padres win out, Brewers go 1-2 or worse. Padres go 3-1, Brewers lose out. Phillies go 2-2, Brewers get swept. Phillies go 3-1, Brewers go 1-2. Phillies go 4-0, Brewers go 2-1. The Angels are now a game ahead of us in the standings. If we go 1-2 or worse, we automatically finish ahead of them. We lose the tiebreaker to the Rockies but one more win in the Rockies final 4 games means that the Rockies can't pass the Brewers in the standings.
  18. Haven't seen the whole thing but there's no reason MLB couldn't do something like this.
  19. Kyle Seager has hit 5 home runs in every month this season with his home run today. Obviously unlikely but it would be awesome if he somehow managed to hit 5 in October.
  20. That seems silly. What if a play is really close and they're looking at a bunch of different camera angles and splicing different shots together to get a good view? That takes more than a minute but just because you want it to go faster, they should just stop, even if it means getting the call wrong? How many reviews have even been finished in a minute this year? Even the obvious ones take at least a minute to overturn.
  21. It's unbelievable that Tony Cingrani has a major league job. One pitch and he can't throw it for strikes. How this guy was a sort of decent starting pitcher for 100 innings amazes me.
  22. Pina and his wife had a daughter today too.
