  1. They can easily just give him an extra $20K or whatever he lost when they renew his contract this winter. It's really not a big deal.
  2. Yes, Brian, keep bringing up how much Freese owned us in the NLCS. That's not annoying at all.
  3. None of the runs were earned. It went error error double strikeout So should have been 3 outs without a run scoring so all runs are unearned.
  4. Bill is really annoying with the "you have to ring him up, you can't reward a hitter for taking that pitch." Except the pitch is a ball in the defined strike zone. Close enough doesn't count.
  5. I don't think he has a twitter account. Best bet would probably be to tweet Schroeder, Sophia or Telly and see if they'll say something to him. It's just especially annoying to me since I have relatives with the last name Pena that live in Pima County, Arizona. Maybe I'll start calling them the Pinas from Pema County.
  6. Thank God I'm not the only one who hears it and finds it incredibly annoying.
  7. No Brian, that didn't have home run distance. Like not even close to home run distance.
  8. Btw, I still prefer the classic gameday that isn't available anymore but the update they made today is a huge improvement over what it was the last month or so when you couldn't even go back to a previous at bat to see where pitches were. The only question is why they rolled out the new one without any alternative when there were still a ton of problems with the new one that needed to be fixed.
  9. It's Pina. Pina, Pina, Pina, Pina, Pina you imbecile.
  10. Rivero threw two pitches in the strike zone that at bat and both were called balls.
  11. Seriously, someone tell Brian it's Pina, not Pena. It's not hard to pronounce.
  12. Yep, Santana is now getting the Broxton treatment earlier. Clearly in a platoon with Nieuwenhuis. Trade him for a dollar so Counsell can't play him anymore.
  13. He has a .294 OBP since the beginning of June. If we don't have better options than him, fine but he's a guy you look to replace when someone better comes along and/or he starts getting more expensive. He's a lot like Gennett in that regard.
  14. Is GameDay an accurate representation of the strike zone? I'm not watching, but I've wondered before if GameDay is supposed to accurately portray the strike zone like they show on FSN, or if it's just subjective. It's the most accurate system there is. They use the Pitch f/x cameras. I'd trust it a hell of a lot more than whatever the hell FSN uses.
  15. Following on gameday and this ump is doing the Brewers a ton of favors. Two clear strikes have been called balls for Brewers hitters and several of Davies' pitches have been off the corner and at the shins that have been called strikes for Davies. Nothing ruins a game like garbage umpires and the home plate umpire today has been garbage.
  16. So it looks like Santana is going to be a bench player now. Send him down if you're not going to play him.
  17. So is Nieuwenhuis playing over Santana now going to become a thing?
  18. Really nice start for Lopez to build on. Coulter continues to rake.
  19. Close to a deal with the Rangers so we can mercifully end this thread, at least for a couple of months.
  20. The funny thing is that I think his best comparison as a pitcher is Wade LeBlanc who he faced last night. Could eat up a few innings but just doesn't have the stuff that's going to consistently fool or get big league hitters out.
  21. Recently Cravy and Jungmann both went 7 innings and gave up 1 run to the Cardinals and Pirates respectively. I don't know if that's enough to get them into the top 5 but it probably gets them close.
  22. We're rebuilding. You don't find games for a 30 year old looking to rebuild his value when you have two younger, cheaper options ahead of him. You see if the younger, cheaper pieces can be part of your core. You aren't going to find that out by sitting them on the bench. If Gomez played a position where we had no young players ready to contribute to the big leagues, sure bring them in but we do. Let him find somewhere else to play.
  23. 1. But he's not right now, he's playing well and you're suggesting signing a guy who's been terrible for a year to replace to maybe hope he can play well enough so we can trade him later. 2. What does Reed have to do with anything? 3. Once again, what do Phillips and Brinson have to do with anything? 4. Sure Santana has had trouble staying on the field but he's on the field now and so is Braun which leaves only CF open. That spot should be Broxton's. 5. A Gomez rebound gives us a lottery ticket like Barrios, maybe slightly better while putting another lottery ticket in Broxton on the bench or in the minors. It's a net zero gain if everything goes well. If Gomez continues to be terrible, we pissed away a few million and delayed the development of a young, athletic CF who is showing promise in the majors right now.
  24. If he and others (Lew Wolff maybe?) are willing to donate a buttload of money to get the program started, then sure. Without that, it's not happening.
  25. Broxton is now batting .250/.368/.406. Why are we even discussing bringing Gomez back? All you're hoping for is he's maybe decent so you can get a lottery ticket back for him while pushing Broxton further down the depth chart. The possible reward is not worth delaying his development.
