  1. Wisconsin is doing more than fine in hockey exposure. The only states with more registered players are California, New York, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, Illinois and Pennsylvania. Those states are either twice as big (at least) as Wisconsin population wise, have multiple college programs and all have at least one NHL team and in a few cases multiple teams as well as other professional minor league teams, junior teams etc.
  2. SNC or UWSP or whatever powerhouse D3 program moving up to D1 is a lot like the conversations about Whitewater moving to D1, at least for football. Is the prestige of being D1 really worth joining a mediocre at best conference and being an also ran with no hope of ever winning a championship? Maybe SNC or UWSP would get lucky and get accepted to the NCHC or something but that's such a good conference that you're going to be fighting an uphill battle to relevance for a long time.
  3. The only other options would be UWM, UWGB and Marquette. Now all 3 would have a potential place to play but adding men's hockey requires either adding women's hockey or another women's sport. UWM and UWGB are bottom tier D1 programs to begin with in terms of athletics overall and conference affiliation so the chances the men's team would make money (most men's hockey teams lose money) is virtually zero and women's hockey or another sport won't make money either so they would have to have a pretty big surplus in revenue for it to make any sense and I doubt they have any surplus revenue. Marquette could be like Providence I guess? But again that would require an additional women's sport and would basically need to be funded for several years to get the program up and running much like Terry Pegula did with Penn State. So Marquette is probably the best chance but even then it's probably like a .000000000000000001% chance. And Wisconsin has a lot of quality hockey at the D3 level with 11 teams total. The state has had a participant in the D3 final 14 of the last 20 years, has won 6 of the last 8 championships and St. Norbert and UWSP have played each other in the final twice in the last 5 years.
  4. He's not growing into power unless he stops hitting ground balls all the time.
  5. Noice. Smort.
  6. The Point Mallard Ducks of Decatur, Alabama have moved to Milwaukee to become the Milwaukee Power. The NA3HL team will begin play in the 2018-19 season at an undetermined location.
  7. Juuse Saros is a damn gem.
  8. Okay I think the Badgers are done now. Only chance is sweeping the Big Ten Tournament.
  9. All because they didn't want to stop the season for a couple of weeks. No reason they couldn't have started it a week earlier and ended it a week later. The NHL has a star problem because most player's personalities are bland and they only play about one-third of a game. Now you have to opportunity to get all of these stars on the same teams, playing against each other and you decline it.
  10. Badgers trying to make a run but it might be too little too late. Admirals are in a 2+ week abortion right now.
  11. I think everybody hates things that they don't like.
  12. No they don't. Can someone please elaborate? That would help. I did in the other thread. I'll look for it. Edit:
  13. I'm more confident than ever that we gave up too much now.
  14. If you go by wRC+ he was 59th this year, 23rd last year, 46th in 2015 and and 48th in 2014. If you go by wOBA he was 45th in 2014, 50th in 2015, 29th in 2016 and 58th in 2017. One year out of four in the top 30 and all of a sudden he's a top 30 offensive player?
  15. Big for the Badgers to split in Minnesota. Hayton needs to either play better or sit his ass on the bench although Trent Frederic is probably a huge fan because Hayton is keeping him from being the biggest disappointment on the team.
  16. I miss the WCHA. Other than Minnesota, there's no connection between the Badgers and any other B1G team.
  17. Badger women are #1, Badger men are #5 and the Admirals are the last remaining unbeaten team in the AHL.
  18. No games on Wisconsin Public Television this year. More games may be added to the TV schedule.
  19. And Ryan Johansen is out for the rest of the playoffs dashing pretty much any chance of the Preds advancing. (All the swears here)
  20. Preds!!!!!
  21. 3-1 lead and that OT was brutal. Oilers were just skating circles around them. At one point the shots were 13-2 (and it probably ended up like 15-3 or something without looking at the box score) and one of those shots was from center ice when the Sharks were gassed and needed a line change.
