  1. If he is meddling and not letting the GM or anyone else do what they think is right for the franchise then he deserves criticism. If you don't trust your baseball people enough to let them make decisions, then fire them. If you want to make your own decisions, then fire them, let it be known you're making the decisions and be prepared for either praise or backlash based on how the team does.
  2. We have a great farm system, just ask Michael Hunt. You know there's Bradley and Jungmann and Gennett and Morris on offense. And he really likes that Brooks "Hill" guy.
  3. If the pitching thing doesn't work out for him I think Wacha has a second career as a stand-up comic on The Muppet Show.
  4. I can't tell if Craig Counsell is a good analyst or if he just looks good in comparison to Davey Nelson.
  5. I can't imagine Seid hangs out for another year, especially if Melvin is gone. The new GM will want to bring in his own guys. Seid should be on thin ice regardless of whether or not Melvin is fired.
  6. I want the best prospects. If they happen to be ready in 1-2 years, that's great but I don't want to pass on a potentially more talented player because he won't be ready in 1-2 years.
  7. If that's the case, they're pretty stupid. Teams in every sport always do better when they draft and develop their own talent. If your theory is true that adding to the major league payroll while taking away from the player development/scouting side (I don't believe that, they've always been conservative with money spent there) then they better change it fast. And yes they have more resources, that's why we should be spending our time and resources that gives us the best bang for our buck which is in scouting and player development.
  8. I don't know why people would make every player except (insert player(s) here) available. If some team looking for outfield production makes me a great offer for Gomez, he's gone. Same with Lucroy at catcher. If the Mariners offered Zunino and Walker for him? Obviously not likely but I would never say player x is untouchable, always listen on every player.
  9. Michael Hunt is just horrible. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/brewers-farm-system-isnt-as-bad-as-you-might-think-b9919994z1-209121231.html Yes Goforth throws hard. Yes he's a possible starter. His most likely case is a reliever though. He doesn't strike anyone out and he walks too many as an older guy at his level. His strikeouts go way up and his walks go way down as a reliever though. Morris and Gennett are apparently the can't miss guys in the system. I don't think anyone here would agree they're can't miss or even close to can't miss. This really got me. If we actually develop our own pitchers and everyday guys why would we want or need to make a Sabathia or Greinke type trade?
  10. I have no idea why people say we can't move Gomez. He's one of the main guys we should be looking to move. We have a young replacement. He's playing really well so his value is high and he's on a good multi-year contract to provide at least 2.5 years of production for another team.
  11. Would it be fair to say the season's over? The Reds and Cardinals already have a double digit game lead on them and were more talented going into the season. The Braves, Giants, D'Backs and Nats are more talented and already have a sizeable lead on them as well.
  12. Munenori Kawasaki wants everyone to know he is Japaneeeeeeeeese. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/kawasaki-plays-hero-in-jays-comeback-win/
  13. The walks are terrible but I don't think a Twin has hit a ball hard once today. Just perfectly placed grounders through the infield.
  14. Hilarious lineup. Those 8 homers have given Yuni immunity for the next 5 years in the eyes of RRR.
  15. Mass, what were the rules and penalties at that time as to how that type of signing bonus would have affected the Brewers? People can criticize the Brewers for not ponying up to sign him, but the other 29 teams had 15 rounds to draft him and didn't. There must have been a reason for that. He was drafted before the bonus pool was instituted and he fell in the draft because of signability. The Brewers called him in the 4th round to ask him if he would take slot money in that round ($250K), he declined and then fell to the 16th round. http://blogs.newsobserver.com/prepsnow/rodon-will-not-sign-with-brewers-0
  16. J.P. Breen‏@JP_Breen6m If #Brewers don’t improve, they’ll have some difficult decisions to make. Need to build for future, but org desperately wants to win in ‘14.
  17. I know it's reserved for the road team but the Brewers deserve this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLFF2P8fInI
  18. To me, a 65 win team is not any different than a 75 win team. There is no added pleasure in winning those extra 10 games. So if a team is destined to be under .500, then they should really cut bait. A 65 win team and a 75 win team are different. I'd rather be the 65 win team because you can get a higher draft pick.
  19. He hit a rocket to the warning track. Hardly an awful at bat.
