  1. It was awesome watching Yuni just stand there. I can't believe Melvin signed this clown again. That alone should be a fireable offense.
  2. LOL get a strikeout to give yourself an out and have the lefty/lefty matchup and you have a wild pitch that scores two runs.
  3. Yeah, but he walked a guy so he's a scrub.
  4. I think part of the reason Morris wasn't given the opportunity is he isn't on the 40 man roster. Of course if we would just get rid of Yuni it would open up a spot for him but maybe they don't want to start his 3 options early but I don't really see why. If he can't establish himself in the majors in 3 years, he probably never will. I'd like a Morris - Weeks - Segura - Ramirez infield with Gonzalez backing up a lot more though than the Gonzalez - Weeks - Segura - Ramirez infield with Betancourt backing up.
  5. This wouldn't be a story if Michael Hunt wasn't an idiot and did some research. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/129541808.html
  6. In trwi7's defense, it was a pretty rough start to the night for Bradley. He settled down nicely after the first inning plus, but I was listening to the game, and I'll admit I thought it was gonna get ugly as well. He retired the last 7 batters he faced, striking out four, including Cubs top prospect Javier Baez on a big curveball, so there were definitely some positives. Looking forward to his next few starts as he gets stretched out and can go longer in to games. Yes, I posted that after the 1st inning where he gave up 3 hits and a walk. Glad to see he rebounded in his final 3 innings.
  7. Bradley picking up right where he left off last year.
  8. Rays apologize for this sign.
  9. Runnin' Ron Roenicke for our aggressive and sometimes stupid running.
  10. Might as well just leave him in. At least then I don't have to watch commercials.
  11. Why would they? Just use one helmet instead of needing to use two.
  12. Glad Sophia is telling us about changing the dirt to grass on the walk from the on deck circle. That's the kind of hard hitting analysis I not only want to know but need to know.
  13. Swung at the first pitch in his first two at bats tonight.
  14. This game is pissing me off and we're only in the top of the 2nd.
  15. Wouldn't that be an argument that you could put him as the top offensive prospect in the system? No you don't know how he's going to hit after the wrist injury but I think they did a pretty good job laying out the risks in the italicized preview for their draft coverage. They probably should have held off on the absolute "no question" he's the best position player in the system but if he had the talent to go at the end of the 1st round with the wrist injury and even higher before it, I certainly wouldn't be shocked if he was the best position player in the system by the middle of the year depending on how his wrist is.
  16. That same player could barely crack a .300 OBP coming from college in his first two seasons. That's not even the whole issue (though it does matter). The same guy plays the easiest position in the NL, is a below-average defender, is a terrible baserunner, etc. etc. All that adds up to something like -1.5 to -2 WAR per year (-7.5 runs position, -3-5 runs baserunning, and -3 to -7 runs on defense) . So if Morris is league average hitter, he's actually a near replacement level player. The takeaway lesson - you need to hit a LOT to be a great 1B prospect. How sure are we that Morris can hit? His tools aren't great, he's not particularly young, and he's so walk adverse that he has to hit .300 to support a good OBP. Give me a guy like Roache, who can be a very good defender in LF, OBP more, and hit for similar power. Give me a guy like Coulter, who isn't just interesting with the bat but also may end up playing the most valuable offensive position. Etc. Yeah, that too. I was just going to OBP because that was just the easiest argument I could make. I'd like Morris a whole lot more if he hit like Khris Davis has since turning pro (.294/.400/.513) but he's hit more like Brad Nelson with less OBP and more power.

  18. What's the point of an instructional in the first place? Now their instructional to start the year is basically how to play catch. Can't wait for Davey to explain that one, I'm sure it will take an hour.
  19. Sage is fine with me but the whole idea of having these girls is stupid. What exactly is the point of them? Eye candy for the guys watching?
