  1. That's not the reason it's down. Off the top of my head 6 of our top prospects will be at worst in Huntsville this year.
  2. I just don't want him at all. You sign him for 3+ years the backend of the contract is going to be a disaster. You sign him for two years or less you give up a draft pick for a band-aid solution.
  3. I also must mention the 30 second ads on mlb.com videos that you have no way of skipping. That doesn't make me want to buy your product. It makes me want to go out and tell people how annoying your ads are and how much your product sucks.
  4. The fact that they haven't completely dismissed the idea of signing Lohse when asked terrifies me. Don't do it, just walk away.
  5. And why was the market soft? Because teams knew they were only guaranteed Fielder for one year and if he did sign long term it was going to take a $200 million commitment for almost a decade.
  6. I'm not really talking about specific moves, but more the general attitude people take that as soon as someone gets good, they should be traded. TheCrew has never said trade everyone when they get good for prospects. He has always said identify core players and sign them cheaply to buy out free agent years and get them below market value in their primes (see Braun, Lucroy, Gallardo). If you have a guy who you would like to make a core player but for whatever reason can't (see Fielder who was never going to sign beyond when he would become a free agent) then that player should be expendable whether it's two or three years before free agency to get the most value in a trade for him or after a monster season and then you have supporting pieces like Hart, Gomez and Weeks. Hart is 31 and a free agent after the season who is starting to have knee problems. He probably doesn't have much value now but he did a couple of years ago. Same with Weeks, probably doesn't have much value now but if he has a bounce back season he will. Gomez should have been shopped in the offseason imo. He's a free agent after the season, coming off a good 2012 season. He's not part of the core, Schafer is ready to replace him and he's going to get overpaid in the offseason if he even comes close to what he did last year and he'll walk without any compensation.
  7. Melvin only dealt him when the only alternative was getting one sandwich-round comp. pick in return. Hardly a visionary approach. Give him credit. I was terrified he was going to trade him for another Francisco Cordero, Kevin Mench, Laynce Nix type package.
  8. A 31 year old corner outfielder who hit .288/.355/.433. Marginal talent, no I guess not. Slightly above average talent who is on the decline, yes.
  9. Not only does he still have a job, he just got a 3 year extension!
  10. Chris Broussard is saying that and he's clueless. Disregard anything he says.
  11. Start at 1:15. Maybe kalle can translate for us.
  12. So you prefer Hart making big money into his mid 30s over guys who are cheap and controllable for 6 years but you will change your mind if they show they are capable of producing. How exactly are they going to show that if Hart is starting and they're sitting in the minors?
  13. It's not like Barcelona fans can complain too much *cough* Chelsea 2009 *cough*
  14. Absolutely brilliant defensive performance by Milan over Barcelona. 2-0 win for Milan, one controversial goal but the main story will be the defensive performance. Barcelona couldn't have had more than a couple chances the whole game. Galatasaray and Schalke tie 1-1 in Istanbul.
  15. I think it's clear Outside the Lines is awful. They were awful with Braun last year. They ran with the Miami New Times story this year, outed Braun again even though there was no clear evidence which is why the Miami New Times story didn't name him. Then they find out that Gio Gonzalez did go to this place but none of the substances he bought were banned by MLB (oops, our bad) to make up for it, here's a list of five other players linked to here.
  16. I'm not going to settle for mediocrity which is what Narveson is. Sure a young guy might be worse, in which case you can always replace him. A young guy could also be much better contributing more to the Brewers shot at the playoffs.
  17. Arsenal in major trouble going down 3-1 to Bayern Munich at The Emirates.
  18. His average fastball was 88.3 in 2010, 87.8 in 2011 and 86.6 last year. 85-87 is far more believable than 89-91.
  19. Hart came up as a 1B in the minors so I don't see why anyone would have thought it would be hard on him. All over the internet I heard but he hasn't played it in 10 years!!!!
  20. I said it was easy way before Hart made the transition and it is easy. People make this huge deal out of switching positions but going from any position to 1st base is easy. Scooping an 80 mph throw is the same thing as trying to read an 80 mph line drive in the outfield.
  21. The only thing height has to do with anything is less errors on bad throws. Davis could do it. He wouldn't be able to keep his foot on the base on really high throws but that's not a reason not to put him there.
  22. Davis is not a first baseman. It's not a hard position to play or learn. He could easily be a 1st baseman if they gave him a shot there. So is Sean Halton and he's a career .294/.352/.448 hitter in the minors. That's not all that far off Davis' numbers. 50 points in OBP and 65 points in SLG% is a pretty huge difference. Would you say there's not much difference between a .250/.300/.400 hitter and a .250/.350/.465 hitter? Because that's basically the difference between Halton and Davis. but you don't put a guy at 1B in the majors who's never played the position. Bullcrap. When was the last time Hart played 1st base before last year, like 10 years ago? He took about 3 weeks of practicing before he became the full time 1st baseman last year. It's not a hard position to play or learn.
  23. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/2013/02/2013-top-100-prospects-list/ As expected Peralta is the only Brewer at 69. Cardinals lead the NL Central with 6 in the top 100 at 3, 6, 38, 39, 76 and 84 and that makes me sad. Pirates are next with 5 at 7, 19, 51, 61 and 78 Cubs are next with 4 at 16, 33, 34 and 83 Reds have 3 at 20, 82 and 94
  24. I think people are really underrating Khris Davis. Davis is already on the 40 man roster, Morris is not. Yes it would be fairly easy to make room for Morris but why do that for a month or two? Davis has hit everywhere he's been and is less than a year older than Morris (12/21/87 vs 10/7/88). Davis is a career .294/.400/.514 hitter in the minors, Morris is a career .280/.324/.499 hitter in the minors.
  25. They're at Miller Park.
