  1. Getting no hit by Nedley would be fitting and the sad thing is, it sort of seems possible.
  2. Ryan Braun wasn't even in the major leagues and he wasn't playing in the outfield either.
  3. So that makes it better? Every other team could've had him, so it's not Doug's fault! He traded a 25 year old who was crushing the ball in Nashville before he even got a chance with the team. He traded that player, along with our best trade asset at the time for a reliever with 1.5 years left on his contract, a weak side platoon outfielder and an outfielder who was a year younger than Cruz, had almost 800 major league at bats and a .286 OBP. If he trades Cruz, that's fine but when you trade him and our best trade asset for that group of players, people will have a problem with it.
  4. I just don't see it. Let's just be generous and say Greinke re-signs for $15 million a year, you're already at $61.25 million between Greinke, Gallardo, Weeks, Braun, Hart and Ramirez. Aoki, Lucroy, Gamel and Green are under control for cheap. Axford will be heading to arby, Gomez and Morgan will be heading to arby again, unless they non-tender Morgan and go with Schafer. You're paying $1.5 million to Wolf for the buyout. You still have three spots in the rotation to fill. You still have to go and find a shortstop and possibly depth at 1st. Veras is very likely non-tendered. Loe may be non-tendered. There are just so many holes to fill and only so much money to do it.
  5. This team is going to have far bigger needs than getting a fifth center fielder if you count all the guys in the majors and AAA that can play it.
  6. The Roenicke and Melvin extensions were both baffling to me.
  7. A decent throw and he's out. Though correct me if I'm wrong if Pena gets in a run down and stays in one long enough for Maier to cross home plate, the run counts and the Royals win anyways, right? Either way I think the best decision there is to hold the ball and hope Axford can get the last out.
  8. Some coaches shouldn't have to wear uniforms. The Royals bench coach is one of them.
  9. Have to get a big man because he was stupid and took a garbage trade for the big man he did have.
  10. Neither are the Brewers. It makes no sense to buy, especially bullpen arms that always cost more than they're worth.
  11. I didn't see the end of the game last night so I just watched the replay. I enjoyed Roenicke bringing in Veras when they absolutely needed the pitcher to throw strikes. Nothing screams strike thrower like Jose Veras.
  12. I haven't read the whole thread but if you're talking about me, I'm not complaining. Just complimenting on how close his prediction was.
  13. Overbay was a career .341 hitter in the minors. Until this year, Morris never had an OBP higher than .306 and even this year his OBP is only .349.
  14. How can we pass up the oppurtunity to get a younger version of Drew Gooden?
  15. Can we just move Rogers to the bullpen full time already?
  16. I remember staying up to watch this game. That just happened to be the last day of exams at school that year.
  17. The games Axford has blown this year was the Reds game where they got two in the 9th, though the game was tied 0-0 in the 8th, another game against the Rockies where the game was tied 3-3 in the 8th and he blew the save against the Cubs that the Brewers came back to win 8-7 in 13 innings. K-Rod gave up a homer to Kotsay but that game was 0-0 in the 8th. He lost a game to the Rockies but that was 1-1 in the 8th. He gave up a lead against the Dodgers but the Brewers scored two in the 9th to win. He lost a game against the Braves but that game was tied 8-8.
  18. Do you see what rebuilding can do for a franchise, Herb?
  19. Cincinnati was handled by Pittsburgh last night worse than the Brewers were over the weekend. First game of the series the Brewers lost 8-2. First game of the series the Reds lost 8-4. What's your definition of worse? Frankly, for all the 'sellers', I ask why not look into dealing Gallardo and/or Braun? Speaking for myself, if I was the GM of the team I would let every other GM know that no player on my team is untouchable. Just making a point here but if Washington offers me Strasburg, Zimmermann and Harper for Braun. Sorry Braun, I love ya, but have fun in Washington. If the Giants offer me Madison Bumgarner and Buster Posey for Gallardo. Have fun in San Francisco, Yo.
  20. LaHair is 6'5, 240 and has a big lower half. He can barely play 1st, he can't play in the corner outfield. He's almost 30 so he's also at his peak and his .402 BABIP is not sustainable. Stay far, far away from LaHair.
  21. In regards to ticket sales, they drew 28,000 to a Cubs game on a nice day in June. People don't want to watch this team.
