Bush didn't come back from the DL until August 27th. Four starts in AAA isn't going to make a pitcher "figure it out" and the rotation was still awful. There was no need for that deal. We were behind the more talented Cardinals and Cubs in the division and we were behind the Giants, Rockies and Cubs in the wildcard. Trading for Lopez did nothing, especially since McGehee could play second which would've opened up third for Gamel.
And we're already 4.5 out of the wild card and the only team behind us in the NL is the Astros. We're tied with the Pirates. I don't think we're coming back. Too many teams with more talent than us are already a few games ahead of us.
Ray and Delfino are alike in that they can both shoot. That's pretty much where the similarities end. And you want to surround Bogut with shooters that he can kick out to.
It's not a day off here and there. It's 6 games off already this year. Twice on back to back days. He played 147 games last year. The most he'll play this year is 155. Do we really think a 23 year old athlete can't handle 8 more games?
This is his third day off in the last six games. He had back to back games off a couple weeks ago. There's no reason to be sitting him this much. If you want Counsell to play, put him in for Weeks who has looked lost at the plate for the last week.
So are we going to platoon him all year? Because if that's what Macha is going to do, I'd rather bring up Luis Cruz who can fill the right handed role and have Escobar play everyday in the minors.
Capuano started. 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. I know it's against A ballers, but the fact that he's mowing them down in the FSL coming off his second TJ surgery is impressive.
