  1. So your idea of getting more OBP balance is to trade the guy who had the highest OBP on the team last year and is one of the few players on this team who has a good walk rate? That makes no sense.
  2. Wow, I would want top prospects for Fielder. Not an innings eater and a closer.
  3. Which is incredibly stupid. What exactly is Gwynn's role with this team? It should be pinch runner/defensive replacement. Well he's not going to replace Braun, Hart or Cameron running. If you want to pinch run for an infielder they might as well go with Counsell. He's not going to replace Cameron or Hart on defense and he shouldn't replace Braun either since Braun's bat would be far more valuable than any defense Gwynn would supply in LF. He's on the roster with no role, Branyan would actually serve a role for this team.
  4. Why does Branyan have to go back down? Branyan can play in the corner spots as well and can provide valuable power off the bench from the left side, something we don't have right now.
  5. Okay thanks colby. I saw you mention Matusz but you didn't have him getting picked so I was curious. Maybe you're just hoping he falls to us at pick #32.
  6. If that happened every minute I would still find golf boring.
  7. Small ball has nothing to do with it. Getting on base does. Fact of the matter is that the Brewers don't get on base enough to score runs consistently.
  8. It has nothing to do with pitchers. If this series was played in Milwaukee this thread wouldn't have been started because one of Lowell, Youkilis or Ortiz would've been on the bench in place of the pitcher. That is a disadvantage for the AL team of not being able to use one of their best hitters.
  9. Link The bolded parts stood out to me. 1. That's such a ridiculous statement to make. Are you telling me Branyan, Gamel, LaPorta, Iribarren and a slew of other minor leaguers couldn't outproduce Slappy right now? What an incredible stupid comment. 2. If they bring him up after the interleague series when he would've been a perfect DH then this management is more incompetent than I thought and I didn't think much of them before.
  10. But as somebody said earlier, it all evens out. If we were playing the Red Sox at home their pitcher would've had to bat and they would've had Youkilis, Lowell or Ortiz on the bench for every game.
  11. Yeah I have no idea what the hell Ned was thinking using Gwynn as the DH. Even if you're going to play him, put him in the field so he has at least some value to the team. Putting him at DH makes him completely useless.
  12. Doug and Ned could've called up Gamel, Nelson or Branyan to DH this series and chose not to. It's still a disadvantage compared to Ortiz but the oppurtunity was there for them to call up a left handed power hitter and they chose not to. That is their own fault and further shows the incompetence that Melvin and Yost have displayed. These were some of the quotes. There is absolutely no reason to not call up either Nelson or Branyan. Who cares if it's only a three game set? Don't send them back down. You can't tell me Branyan or Nelson wouldn't serve a better role than Gwynn does on this team.
  13. Slappy is now hitting .219 with a .566 OPS. There is no excuse for him to be on the major league roster. This goes on both Ned and Doug.
  14. Fielder is the worst defender I have ever seen.
  15. Wouldn't have bothered me as much if he didn't smirk about it afterwards. Agreed. Even more inexcusable than the error was the smile he gave for a good 20 seconds afterward. I'd sit his a$$ on the bench right now. Yep. Not so much for the error or else Hall and Weeks would be on the bench too but the smile was just complete garbage and totally inexcusable.
  16. I think we're closer to the point where we're sellers at the deadline instead of trading for pitching. That's where I'm leaning unless they can get some pitching soon.
  17. I would take a run to get Torres off the hook. He doesn't deserve the loss.
  18. Struck out the side. A great start.
  19. I know some people get less frustrated than others but everybody on this site should be fuming at the steaming pile of garbage that was the top of the 6th inning.
  20. I hate it when home plate umpires call strike three on check swings themselves. Does it really hurt to ask an umpire who has a better angle than you?
  21. Wow, Hall is very lucky, he was out. One of the worst base runners I've ever seen.
