  1. What are the odds that we see a Jackson v Ortiz matchup at some point this series?
  2. Everyone's talking about an extension for Corey Hart. Do we know if the Brewers have real plans to move Hart to CF at some point? If they don't, I would not give Hart a long term deal and would consider him as part of a trade package for top-end starting pitching, considering LaPorta and Gamel's status in the minors.
  3. Don't want to go too offtopic, but many have mentioned Corey Hart already... Those that want to extend Hart must be planning for him to be a CFer as early as 2009. That's what I'd hope for if we extended Corey. I like him a ton as a player but we have what look to be 2 huge bats that will be most likely be corner OFers burning through the minors in Gamel and LaPorta. If Corey can play adequate defense in CF his offense is huge at that position.
  4. I guess we didn't need to keep Braun in the minors at all last year. Good for Ryan and the Brewers, Braunie is probably my favorite Brewer as well.
  5. It feels really good to have a lead. Gagne anyone?
  6. [NBA Jam Announcer] He's [braun] heating up! [/NBA Jam announcer]
  7. Why do I have to work during every nationally televised game? I'm taking an extra half hour for lunch dangit!
  8. The team needs a change. Yes, we need the players to start hitting and pitching better. That's bound to happen at some point but don't expect firing Yost and bringing in a new manager to generate offense.
  9. nice Jamie. Can we make this an incredibly sarcastic-themed in-game thread? I love to watch Dave Bush pitch.
  10. Didn't Hardy's slump end last season when he was moved to the slot just ahead of the pitcher?
  11. It's only a matter of time before Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder start hitting home runs. It's coming.
  12. Seriously, this entire thread is about one group thinking Yost is a dink and the other group thinking the players suck. I think what the second group of people are arguing is that firing Yost isn't going to magically make the players produce. I was just ripping Yost for the TGJ PH w/ the bases juiced a few posts back but the Yost "issue" gets far too much attention IMHO.
  13. So why are we where we are? It's been an odd early season, no doubt, with 5 blown saves, mostly short outings by starting pitchers and anemic offense and yet somehow we still are over .500. I worry if we'll have enough pitching going forward; we can't afford to blow saves at this clip and we somehow need our starters to go deeper (and to pick up another quality arm?). I'm still not really worried about the offense. It's too early to worry about a 3.5 game deficit to the Cards.
  14. showing Gwynn more likely to get on base vs. a RH'er than Dillon. and I believe the next post already mentioned how that sample size is basically irrelevant.
  15. why not use the option most likely to keep the inning alive. is that necessarily Gwynn?
  16. Not only does Dillon have more power, he's also probably more likely to get on base. I don't understand why Dillon hasn't gotten many opportunites to PH considering we need a bat off the bench with at least a sniff of power.
  17. Yes, but if this were to be a serious long term injury or becomes one (which granted is not likely with just a muscle tear) then that's a lot of money down the tube.
  18. Source? Yay! Crazy Mighty Joe Dill-young-vola is back! I might be able to change my avatar again.
  19. How is Rickie supposed to start hitting if he's playing 25% of the time? If you aren't going to play Weeks everyday you might as well trade him which would also be a bad, bad idea.
  20. After tonight and tomorrow night, I'll have gone to the bar 5 nights in a row for the first time since college. I'm starting to remember why I skipped so many 8am classes.
  21. Excellent topic Ando. To me, it is the RESPONSIBILITY of journalists/media types to be honest and non-sensationalistic. I realize this has gone by the wayside with this new type of "entertainment media" but as FTJ mentioned it is a pendulum effect. Shows like PTI have given more folks the idea that they too can yell across the desk at each other and make a lot of money. Hopefully someday soon we will swing back toward sanity once people realize how shallow these programs really are. Sites like FJM and others are a good start; the folks at FJM really deserve their own TV spot. Ultimately, we the consumer have to decide that we want the most knowledgeable people transmitting information to us instead of just big personalities with big mouths.

  23. A 10-year-old 1987 Subaru GL - manual transmission with 4-wheel drive... awesome.
  24. Totally agree. The Brewers have taken 4 of 6 but that doesn't matter because the most recently nationally televised game was a total blowout in favor of the Cubs. I no longer watch ESPN except for game telecasts because of how worthless the analysis has become. *Seethe
