  1. I'm actually encouraged by this start for Marcum. He "rusty" to start the game which is understandable. If nothing else he looked like he just wasn't comfortable. After the second inning he settled down fine. Would have been easy for him to have a complete blow up starting out that bad coming off only 1 start after missing a start in st. He battled through it and could end up with 5 IP and 3 ER which is perfectly fine by me on 80 pitches. The bigger positive is the amount of movement he has on his off speed stuff. First time I've seen him pitch and his ball moves late by the looks of it. HE'LL BE FINE
  2. I know the new "aggressive" style was quite the topic prior to ST starting up, but since the games have started I haven't heard much about it. From glancing through box scores, I haven't seen very many stolen bases or caught stealing. Does anyone have the steals/attempts numbers from spring games? For those that are down in AZ have there been many runners stretching singles into doubles or that type of aggressiveness?
  3. Boggs and Almonte seemed to stand out to me so far. With Almonte having SS experience, he seems to be pretty agile coming off the bag at first on some slightly poor throws. Gallardo and Axford look like they are ready to go now.
  4. 1. I had an issue just getting into the parking lot. They were screening cars as they turned around the left hand corner to come into the general parking lot entrance road. The officers there were asking to see tickets before you could go in. I had chose the print at home method and then never received the e-mail to print from. I contacted the brewers ticket office and they told me it was their mistake and that the tickets would be waiting at will call. The officer didn't want to seem to believe me.... argued my case for prolly 3-4 minutes before he finally let me into the parking lot. I forgot they did that on opening day... note to any others who may use will call on opening day.... bring a printed off receipt if at all possible to avoid the hassle. 2. Agree that I seen far less "incidences" this year than the past couple years. 3. Sure hope the anti-clutch hitting doesn't become a trend. 4. Beautiful weather can not be stated enough. 5. Noticed the new pasta cart... seemed odd to me for a baseball game. 6. Got a chuckle out of a Ohka jersey sitting right in front of me.
  5. Jeffress listed as a 2009 ETA.... they guessing at an end of the year call up?
  6. I have thought about moving Hardy to 3B, and bringing Escobar up to play short. That would be a great defensive left side of the infield. I would think Hardy is above average defense at 3B. He may be lacking a little power for there, but in all honesty hit for more power than anyone we played at 3B this year, except maybe Branyan. Also don't forget about Cappy... Maybe a long shot at this point, but thought his name deserved to be thrown out there.

  8. I was trying to make late plans to go to this Sunday's game, but when I tried to buy tickets the only ones available are single tickets (I need 2 together). I went to a sold out game on short notice last year planning on buying tickets from a scalper or something, and ended up finding out that there were still tickets available at the window. Does the team keep a certain amount of tickets just for walk up customers? If so, how early would I have to get to the game to pick up 2 seats together? Thanks in advance.
  9. Two things to say: 1. Here's to hoping that Mike Cameron = Big shot in the arm. There is enough talent in the line up now that individuals shouldn't feel the need to press, but another veteran like Cameron could be a spark. 2. How much did the Brewers not need TGJ to get hurt during the first 25 games. He would have been a left handed bat that brought another dimension to the table with his speed and defense.... aka the anti-gross.
  10. One thing that hasn't been brought up is that it is raining. The chance of a rain delay and the possibility of having to use extra pitchers could have also played a roll.
  11. Is there some sort of deadline in which this decision has to be made? Yost declined to comment after the game today. Any idea of when the decision will be announced? I was also wondering if there was a deadline as to when the brewers would have to let Cincy know who was starting?
  12. And I'm not sure yet that one of those 84-85 mph pitches at the end there wasn't actually a fastball. I went back and looked at it. The last pitch that he threw in the inning to get the strikeout was a fastball that registered at 86. The announcers were talking about him throwing the 3 or 4 change-ups in a row, so the FSN camera angle was showing the signs that Kendall was putting down. The second to last pitch he called for a change-up and the last pitch he called for a fastball.
  13. 60 pitches and he's done... that's a for sure somethings up type deal. Here's to hoping that something is rather minor
  14. I probably wouldn't even put Webb in that category... although it's close. Maybe for a better debate, how about Santana vs Peavy? Honestly, I would probably take Peavy.
  15. If I remember correctly there was some talk about Milwaukee going after Bedard this off-season. He apparently has a hip injury, so not as serious as an arm issue. Borowski listed as a strained triceps
  16. Not that I put any stock in information from Yahoo, but Yahoo's sports page has Gross in center not Kapler. Is Kapler for sure starting?
  17. I was going crazy during todays game trying to figure out who the old guy eating the brat was. They kept showing him so much that I figured he had to be someone's dad or grandpa or something. Then nothing was ever said about him, so I'm assuming he was just a random. The other thing that has gotten under my skin has been the camera work on pick-off attempts. There have been a few pick-off moves where you see the pitcher throw the ball, hear the crowd react to make you believe it was a close play... then 5 seconds later the camera switches to first base after the runner is up and brushing himself off already.
  18. Staffing was the one bad thing that I thought of, but if the change was at least a couple days ahead of time I would think they could make it work. I'm not sure how the staffing of events is handled, but last year I know there was pretty much the exact same parking and concession staff at every game I attended (same seats/parked in same area). As for broadcasting, I realized a nationally televised game would be out of consideration. For FoxNorth games though, it's not like they have to change any scheduling to air a game. The game is on an alternate station, which just goes off air when the game is over. I used a 2nd game of a series as an example, assuming that all the equipment and everything is already set up.
  19. The storm that is moving through the Chicago area in the next couple days has got me thinking. I'm a little curious if MLB has ever/would ever change the start time of a game due to weather related issues. I don't mean to change the date of a game, but rather say change a game from a night game to a day game or vice versa. For example: Say the Brewers were playing the 2nd game of a 3 game series in Chicago and the game was scheduled for a 6:05 start. If there was a large storm system that was going to move into the Chicago area in the evening, would MLB ever consider moving the game to say a 1-2 pm start that same day. I thought about the unpredictability of the weather forcast, but if it was a large system and you could make the change say 2,3, or 4 days ahead of time would it be considered? I'm sure there would be concerns about travel plans, but I would think very few fans every fly to attend a game, so with 2-3 days notice it would make more sense to me to change travel plans by a couple hours rather than have a rain cancelation and not see a game at all. Just a thought... I'm sure posters will think of 15-20 problems that I didn't consider, but just throwing it out there.
  20. There always is a non-brewer IGT. It's one thread that covers all of the other games in mlb that given day. It'll be in the IGT forum though... not here.
  21. It would have been a joke two years ago, now it is not. He made some plays in his first year in LF that made him look foolish, but now I would consider him a top 5 defensive LF'er in baseball.
  22. I've checked 5 of the most popular sportsbooks that I could find online. All 5 had the Brewers between 84-85.5. With all due respect, I would say that your source doesn't know jack about baseball.
  23. You beat me to this. Seems like everyone is worried about Villy and Parra pitching into October, when realistically very few teams use more than 3 starters in the playoffs anyways. As for the rotation, I really hope that Parra either goes to the pen or to AAA when Yo comes back. I think that Villy has earned a chance to be in the rotation for the entire season barring injury or absolutely terrible performance.
