  1. I like Ramos but not at that price. I prefer defensively minded catchers who can handle pitchers more than offensive catchers anyway. That being said, I still hope they somehow get another catcher to compete for the backup job and that they spend some money on 2nd base.
  2. I don't hate the trade, but I think if the shoe was on the other foot, and we tendered say Cedeno and traded him for the #39 pick, many of the same people who love this would love that too. Well yeah I'd be ecstatic, because Cedeno isn't nearly as good as Claudio. Yeah that’s not a fair comp. the brewers don’t have a good comp, but how would you feel if the brewers traded Perez for the #39 pick. I think some would be happy some not.
  3. Without signaling anyone out, it’s funny going through the Yelich tradebthread to see all of the people who felt the brewers gave up too much and hated the trade, a year later it’s universally accepted the marlins got fleeced. Not saying this will be the case to or not and it’s harder to judge an unknown entity like a draft pick, but let’s wait before freaking out about losing a pick that mlb gave us.
  4. his bat will be good and all you are doing is keeping 2nd base warm until Hiura is ready, so I’m ok with a 1 or 2 year deal.
  5. I am officially riding the John DeFilippo train for coach. Would be a good hire imo, need someone to return Rodgers to his old self.
  6. I listen to Rome every day on 1057 the fan through iheart. Man there local hosts seem to be no better than what we have here from listening to their promos.
  7. Woke up this AM to the news that 97.3 is switching formats from top 40 to sports talk, making 5 sports talk stations in Milwaukee. All focusing on local sports talk. First of all, I can’t see how so many stations can be successful. When we had 2, ratings were low, now the pie is split 5 ways. Secondly with technology now, anyone can get any show they want with a touch of the button. I listen to Rome everyday on iheart. It’s the only sports talk I listen to. This is probably why stations are less apt to have national programming. I really wish Milwaukee could offer unique music content instead of apparently focusing only on sports talk, oldies, and top 40. Besides public radio, there is little variety out there. Also, there are so many resources out there to get info on the local teams, sports talk is not as important as it was before blogs, social media, and message boards. Finally I’m willing to bet that this may be why Czaban left b&b, yet focuses on Milwaukee sports on his podcast. While I heard from someone that he and drew had a show, since he and kB started a new show on the new station, I find this not likely.
  8. I'll guess they will have plenty of playoff stuff at a discount. which may be worth the trip.
  9. I don’t mind, like Gatewood but you have to be a 100 lose team to take a chance on a bat like Gatewood. He is not ready. I don’t know how it works with injuries but tore ACL in July/August as a position player probably keeps him out to June. They can’t just add him & throw him on 60 day correct? Bigger story I think is how all those trades last year impact our situation this off season! Handful of those prospects just got added. We would have had some real tough calls I agree with you that I don’t think Gatewood would be selected. My only point was there were at least a couple of guys that could be removed from the 40 pretty easily. Also, yes the trades at the deadline really made decisions today easier.
  10. Doesn't make sense to not add Gatewood and use all 40 spots. I would hope that the brewers are in a position where they would not need to use a rule V pick on their roster. Also, while there isn't a lot of dead weight on the 40 anymore, I would argue that I would rather keep a player like Gatewood with some upside over an Aaron Wilkerson.
  11. Compared to the finalists, the name is ok. I actually like the name better than skysox and toasty is way cooler than Sox the Fox.
  12. to answer you question, they didn't this year. I do think they did almost every season prior they did on opening night.
  13. Still liked the teal best but the orange was ok. I do like that they went red and blue but took different shades to give it their own flavor. I have to see the uniforms first though, I feel like they will look like the d-backs current ones.
  14. And that’s why you bring in drew. I agree a Milwaukee program with Czaban would be odd, but you let him cohost with a local guy and you may have something. One doesn’t leave a paying job (especially after he lost his local am show) without something lined up. I’m not one to post unsubstantiated rumors but this has a ring of truth to me.
  15. Rumor I heard is that czabe and drew Olson are starting a show on 94.5. His deal was expiring and couldn’t do both as they are competitors. We shall see if it’s true though.
  16. I think picking up the option is smart at this point. While my preference would be to resign Moose and keep Shaw at 2nd, bringing in Jonathan for one year makes tons of sense. I would think Huira will be the everyday 2nd baseman in 2020, you bridge the gap without having to make a long term commitment to Moose.
  17. Last season it was Jason Lane, I do agree with your larger point. I’m sure Craig met with him, liked his approach and hired him. Can’t really look at the cubs performance for any benchmark.
  18. I think Counsell deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one. He did a good job hiring his initial staff. I was thinking they would bring in Hinske. I’m much more interested in who they bring in as pitching coach. Not sure how much the hitting coach moves the needle day by day over the course of the season.
  19. Personally I hope they make dabney the bullpen coach and go outside for hitting. It is my opinion that these 2 positions are the least significant on any staff, so I won’t get too bent out of shape on whoever they hire though.
  20. the offense was fine for the most part until the dodgers series, it though sounds like it wasn’t the brewers choice to replace coles. The tunnel thing is odd as the pen was the strength of the team all season. I will reserve judgement until I see the replacements.
  21. If the brewers stay in San Antonio only to be replaced by one of the Texas teams after a stadium is built, I will not be happy. Mark A may have a perfect situation though. He could help pay for the stadium in exchange for some assurances. Not sure if that is legal, but you would have some stability at triple A, in a nice market. It is nice that the brewers relationship with the Elmore group is strong, so hopefully it isn't another Nashville situation.
  22. I’ll guess neither. There was no leak that the brewers or the Elmore group asked for a change in affiliation as that has happened in all other affiliation changes. It sounds as if the brewers visited the site last weekend and was satisfied with the proposed changes and decided to renew the affiliation. Also missed in the news yesterday, Stearns did confirm that the brewers rookie ball team will be in Colorado Springs, which I think is a good move, as they will have by far the best facilities in the league, and are far enough away from Milwaukee where I wouldn’t worry about the elevation.
  23. I may be reading too much into this but this tweets seems to say the brewers rookie league team will be in Colorado Srpings
  24. I would have preferred Fresno, but I’m happy it’s a 2 year deal. I just hope the brewers have learned their lesson from the sounds, who played in a subpar stadium for years only to have the rug pulled from them once they got their stadium.
  25. These minor leave owners say winning is the most important thing, but the evidence says something else. Fresno just went to league championship and they cut bait. The skysox weren’t eliminated until the final day of the season and Biloxi went to the league championship series. The brewers have greatly improved the system over the last 4 years and it seems like they will be the last team standing with no affiliate.
