  1. i don't think so, cappy would be a long reliever / rotation insurance. Saito moves into a setup role. What it does is make it near impossible for Pat Egan, Sean Green or Justin James to make it. since its never too early assuming that the brewers go with a 13 man staff to start the season: SP1 Greinke SP2 Gallardo SP3 Marcum SP4 Wolf SP5 Narverson CL Axford SU Braddock SU Saito MR Loe MR Hawkins MR McClendon / Kintzler / Green / James / Egan / Stetter LR Capuano LR Parra If they go with a 12 you just remove the 6 man race for the last spot in the pen.
  2. wouldn't be surprised if the rotation was set up for greinke to start the home opener which is game #3.
  3. the first 3 fights were pretty average, but that Pettis fight was the best fight I have seen this year. That move was sick and Duke Roufus got alot of love for teaching that move to showtime. I will definitely be getting the UFC pay per view that he is headlining again against Maynard or Edgar.
  4. i just completed my top 10 album list for 88.9's website and know there is an annual music thread on this site, so i figured i'd share mine. I know there are a few like minded music nuts like me on this site and I'm always interested to see what others really liked 1. Janelle Monae "The Archandroid" 2. Mumford and Sons "Sign No More" 3. The National "High Violet" 4. The Arcade Fire "The Suburbs" 5. Cee Lo Green "The Lady Killer" 6. She and Him "Volume 2" 7. Girl Talk "All Day" 8. Kayne West "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" 9. The New Pornographers "Together" 10 Fitz and the Tantrums "Pickin' Up the Pieces"
  5. i happened to have the day off anyway tomorrow so i plan on being there around 1130, looking at the john and cait blog there seems to be some good options out there.
  6. i am excited, by chance i have the 3rd off so i can get there fist thing in the morning instead of picking over the stuff left over on saturday.
  7. they told him he was allowed to field calls from other clubs while they talked to other pitching coaches, that was the writing on the wall for me.
  8. i agree the current ones may be bland but i like them, the uniforms from 94-99 are much worse.
  9. wasn't impressed with iorg as a 3rd base coach but hes moving to 1st so it may be OK. Still would have liked for Randolph to come back but understand why he wouldn't want to. Overall happy with the staff.
  10. i think peterson was fine for the second half. the staff was much better with a closer who wasn't blowing save after save and the rotation was healthier. i think he got a bad rap for the first 2 months of the season due to a horrible pen. Once the kids came up from Nashville, pitching was fine. I personally like to see him back but would like to know who Rags is considering before i completely endorse the move.
  11. it he was coming back it would have been announced. i wouldn't be surprised it he was in the process of interviewing bench coach and pitching coach prospects. I do believe Peterson when he says he hasn't heard either way though.
  12. i agree, and this week doesn't look much better. I just don't understand why they have to leave the office every week. The only time i have laughed all season is when toby was counseling Michael.
  13. most surprising thing i fell is that he said on belling's show that peterson wasn't a lock to make the staff and he though peterson was a good pitching coach but he had others in mind, will meet with melvin tomorrow. you can go to www.belling.com and go to the podcast link and do hour 2 part 1 if you want hear the interview....
  14. he's 56 so i wouldn't exactly consider in a younger manager, i do like the system he came out of and would take the success that the angels had in the 00's for the brewers over the next decade in a heartbeat, although they should have won more.
  15. Haudricourt confirms it http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/106540803.html
  16. if that is true, i'll be slightly disappointed but not upset. i think he will atleast play more of a national league style offense compared to Macha. I think Scioscia is a good manager and there are worse people he could learn from. I soured on Bobby V as the days wore on, but was still hoping for Cora.
  17. my opinion of cora is based on him as a player and from what i know about his role with the sox. being far away from the AL West and admittingly not knowing as much about that division as the other 2 in the AL, my knowledge of him is very limited.
  18. greeg, its hard to rank them without knowing the mystery but i agree with your rankings of the 3 "known" candidates.
  19. according to real gm, current candidates are the bobcats, hornets, and grizzlies. None of those 3 really teams have history or support and would probably be the easiest to get rid of, but i agree without a new stadium the bucks could be vulnerable. http://realgm.com/src_wir...s_possible_contractions/ the biggest issues are that the nba over expanded in the 90's and pays its marginal players way more than they are worth. If the owners had a play scale similar to nfl or even mlb players, this would be less of an issue.
  20. this search is very private while the other 2 have not been. In 02 each candidate had a press conference after their interview and in 08 we knew the list of 3 candidates early in the process. I have to wonder if there is a surprise candidate that is a front runner. I'm sure ownership wants to make a splash after a disappointing 2 seasons. Bringing in a big name that has not been on anyone's radar would do that. just saying...
  21. regarding the staff, the only one that needs to go is Fischer. i do agree that the new manager should be able to hire his own staff though.
  22. regarding Listach, my issues in the past were naming past 82 brewers. i have less of a problem naming a 92 brewer. id be fine with any of the 4 greeg35 listed.
  23. id like to see valentine be the managerm but my guess is his pricetag would be too high. if that is the case i'm hoping for wallach which has been consistent which my previous posts.
  24. john heyman reporting mariners hire wedge, once less option for doug (not upset though that he is gone) Edit: Split off from the other topic, since it deserves its own thread, added link. --cc
  25. another darkhorse candidate that isn't being mentioned is Lloyd McClendon, he has been the only manager in a while to even get to 70 wins with the Pirates and has done a good job as hitting coach of the tigers.
