4/8/07 Cubs (Miller) @ Brewers (Capuano) as if it mattered

Cirillo can't play SS, though. Apparently the team doesn't really think Graffy can, either. Counsell, on the other hand, has actually been awesome the past two seasons he has played SS (2004 and 2006). Once Braun comes up and settles in at 3B, Counsell can go back to the utility gig, which he fits into really nicely.

Could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure that Cirillo made a couple starts at SS last year and did just fine.

I wouldn't like to see him platooning there on a regular basis, but the need for him to start there would be so rare that I don't think it would really have mattered that much.

[ That doesn't suprise me Brian....Sorry If I don't have the same sense of humor as you and can't state my opinion. ]

I didn't say you couldn't, but I could certainly state mine. If you're going to dish it, you're going to need to take it.

Yeah, except I think the Brewers had to have a better contingency plan for if Hardy were to get hurt. They had no legit SS depth after deciding to move Hall to CF, and I think they would rather not have to turn to the Chris Barnwells of the world again.

Besides that, I think it was much more Cirillo's call. He knew he wasn't going to get any playing time, and the Twins basically gave him the RH half of a DH platoon.

I was yelling @ Ned to PH Graffy here for Counsell...Ok Ned was right. I guess he has to get credit on this one since enough heat gets provided other times.

Cirillo would've gotten Graffy's playing time here, had Graffy actually gotten a free agent gig to start anywhere at all.

He didn't, so he accepted arby, which left us no room (or $) to resign Cirillo (as we already had Counsell under contract)
