Wouldn't you say that #8 in runs scored is somewhat disappointing for this team? The runs scored is higher than their rank for BA or OBP due to the power numbers.

Also, yes I consider ranking #12 in BA close to the bottom.

Soup is overpaid, yes. Before he went on the DL he was downright terrible, yes. But all this Soup hatred is literally blowing my mind. Unless the pitcher spot comes up in a big situation, I can't imagine he will be taken out of the game, nor should he.

For those of us not watching, what was the deal with the Votto AB?

He had a 3-0 count with a runner on 2nd base and nobody out, swung away and grounded out to the shortstop.

Counsell: Maybe they just wanted someone in the lineup that has a little plate discipline, and who's not going to strike out a lot for a change.

It's only been a few games anyway, give it a rest guys. If he continues to start every day going into next week, then maybe it's time to start asking what's going on.

I would say #8 for runs scored is very dissapointing. You hear announcers talking about this "great offense" that the Brewers have, when in reality they just have a lot of power coupled with a propensity to strike out.

At 71 pitches, I think Soup's chances of pitching into the 7th are greater than him getting pulled after 5.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

Although batting him 2nd just because he's playing short defies logic.

Take a look at who is playing today. Who else would you have bat second?

I thought a #2 hitter was supposed to be someone who can handle the bat well, a guy who will lay down a bunt, and who knows how to play situational baseball.

He's the worst hitter on the team. I don't mind him starting at shortstop once in a while, but he should never be starting at third base. Branyan has plate discipline, and it's not like Hall has terrible discipline either. I don't care that Counsell doesn't strike out, it's no worse than a weak dribbler out to the pitcher's mound or to the second baseman.

I can't believe how much I hate the idea of stealing third base. Hart, you're freakin' fast, you'll probably score on a hit to the outfield anyway. There's like a 2% chance of a wild pitch/passed ball/balk, it's not worth the risk man.

The Reds are doing their best Brewers defense impression this inning -- it's nice to be on the other end of that for once. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Homer's gone...let's feast on the bullpen, now.

Well they weren't scoring runs with Branyan or Hall at 3b, why not try something different for a few games.

That's all I'm saying.

I tend to agree with this, but all's well that ends well, I suppose.

There was only one out.
