Time Warner Cable customers to lose 19 Viacom owned channels on jan 1st

Figure I would post this here since TW is in the milwaukee area:

 

Basically the geist is Viacom , owners of such channels including Comedy Central, Nickelodeon & MTV want more money from Time warner and Time Warner is saying No. Thus you wont be able to watch south park, The Daily show or any other Viacom owned shows/channels effective Jan. 1st.

Hard to pick sides when both sides are giant media corporations which have repeatedly been interested in profit over customer satisfaction. How about Viacom lowers the fee and AOL Time Warner lowers cable rates?

Also, I haven't heard of any of the other cable companies having problems with the price increases, so why the big stink from Time Warner?

Comedy Central, CMT: Pure Country, Logo, Palladia, MTV, MTV 2, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, MTV Tr3s, Nickelodeon, Noggin, Nick 2, Nicktoons, Spike, The N, TV Land, VH1, VH1 Classic, and VH1 Soul

 

I hate to lose Comedy Central and Spike, but the rest can go

I'm with Ross, I could care less about most of those channels. But no Daily Show or Colbert Report will go very far in my decision to stay with TWC once ATT Uverse rolls out in Shorewood (Speaking of which, I need to write the mayor. Apparently they don't like the look of the VDSL cabinets. Please...)

What will almost certainly happen is that a deal will be worked out, Viacom we get more money and TW cable bills will go up to pay for it

this is what makes me side against TW. they had the same problems with BTN and NFL. it would be one thing if they werent jacking up prices all the time.

Personally, I don't care if any of those channels come back. I'm just going to make sure my bill is adjusted down for the time they are not being carried. I'm still ticked TW gave in and started carrying the big ten channel.

This thread is now irrelevant. TW and Viacom signed a new contract/agreement.
