Hoffman to Brewers, 1 year for $6 mil plus $1.5 mil in incentives

Here's the real question of the day: When he's inducted in the HOF will he wear a Brewers cap or a Padres cap?

Well, I say we might as well win the next two WS with him and see if we can take that question out of blue. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Trevor's words in TH's last blog post are really interesting. The part about it not making a difference where he went because he'd be out of San Diego regardless is much different than the "gotta stay on the West/East coast" that we have been hearing about some FAs. Maybe this is unique to Hoffman, hard to say. In any case, it's good to know that having a well-run, committed organization can get you something, even against a high-profile club like the Dodgers.

Is there an option for 2010 or not? They kept talking about a 2010 option on XM this morning, but I thought it was reported by TH that there was not option for 2010.

Sorry for any confusion - there is not a 2010 option. I just don't think winning one WS would get a Brewers cap on his head in the hall. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

(Two probably wouldn't either.)

I like McClung and Julio as setup bc of their good fastball, and the contrast with Hoffman's changeup. I assume that is what SD did with Heath Bell last year.

I don't think it really matters that much to worry about contrast when it comes to the later innings as the setup men would be unlikely to face the same batters as Hoffman, and if they are we would already be in trouble for the most part. I'd prefer for there to be others than CV as setup because I want him to be able to pitch whenever we need him the most.

As much as I like McClung as a late inning reliever because of his fastball. I think if he is in the pen it will be as the long man and spot starter. The main setup guys I see are Villanueva, Julio and Riske.
