Wow, no commentary on tonight's weather yet?
I've been watching the marathon weather coverage on the local channels in Madison. Now I'm wondering how long before lightning will prompt me to turn off the computer.

OWBC is probably storm spotting, or could be if he were west-southwest of here.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I'm stuck at work today unfortunately. Probably wouldn't have chased anyway since there are too many hills/trees in SW Wisconsin. There was a great multicellular cluster out there for awhile--likely will be at least 2 confirmed tornadoes, maybe more. Madison probably won't even see a drop of rain, with maybe some light rain in the Milwaukee area. Also of note is that Madison has virtually clinched the coldest July ever and Milwaukee is still sitting at the 4th driest July ever.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen clouds like that. Is that a camera effect?

There is no photo enhancing on that picture...the sky really looked that way. It was one of the neatest skies I have ever seen, yet very eerie.

It came out a little too orange, but that was how they looked. I'm still holding out to see something like this though.

Not weather related but I do want to say this...

I cant believe Summer is on the way out(we have a month till the metorlogical end of it). It's always why August-September are my least favorite months of the year. Back to fall and the dreaded Winter seasons. Summers are fantastic in the midwest but there too short.

i will be doing a lot of moving in the next 3 weeks, so i won't mind at all if it cools off significantly...

at least the NFL season will be starting soon, which is why for me summer coming to an end isn't a bad thing...

I am very disappointed that the 90% chance of heavy rain yesterday resulted in 0.01 inches of rain at home.

Also, I have yet to hear tornado sirens outside of the tests they run every once in a while. This is the first summer in a long time that has happened.

. . . and you just jinxed yourself.

That is pretty surprising, though. You are correct.

I didn't pay too close attention to what happened yesterday, but I think the best moisture/instability stayed to the south along with the disturbance that was supposed to set off the storms. Basically, the models predict it, it seems to be heading our way, and then it doesn't work out. Of course, now the front is through so the thunderstorms fired in Illinois again today, resulting in just light rain again for WI. The severe weather season was really quiet this year.

I was up near the Twin Cities over the weekend, and Saturday night, it monsooned on us for about an hour.

Went from sprinkles to torrential downpour. Crazy weather. Too bad I was camping!
