Sheets and Jenkins for Dontrelle Willis?

Posted

Last night I had a dream that the Brewers traded Ben Sheets and Geoff Jenkins to Florida for Dontrelle Willis. The dream was so vivid that I actually had to check the Internet this morning to see if it was real or not. Anyway, I just thought I'd share that with everyone.

Happy New Year!

BTW, I would be all about this one.

Edit: Added question mark to subject

How would that be a good trade for the Brewers? Willis is living off his first half a year reputation as being an ace. While he has been good, but nowhere near as dominating as Ben has been.

I'd be for this as well, however, the Marlins will not put that kind of money down on either Sheets or Jenkins. Jenkins is too inconsistent, and I'm sure the Marlins organization would be too worried about his health to chance putting a guy with his recent history on their team. They're a young scrappy team, and next year could really shake things up in their division. Hell, they almost made it this year.

Sheets: 2004-2006

3.13 ERA, 500.2 IP, 1.03 WHIP

Willis: 2004-2006

3.47 ERA, 657.2 IP, 1.30 WHIP

In a world without contracts, I would not trade Sheets for Willis, straight up.

In a world without SportsCenter, I don't think this trade is even considered a good idea.

I had a dream last year that the Brewers traded Rickie Weeks for Scott Podsednik and then started to panic that they made a bad trade and traded Bill Hall to get Rickie Weeks back. I'd much rather have had your dream but I still wouldn't do the trade.

Ya i agree with cricks, i would not wanna trade Sheets straight up for Willis. Also Im not sure if the Marlins would be interested in Jenkins, an overpaid, past his prime, inconsistent player. (I didnt try to sound to mean, I dont have anything against him except for hes not very good anymore.)

That might be the first time I've ever seen Jenkins described as a leader.

I'd suggest the opposite. Jenkins is the last thing the Marlins would want, a bad influence, on a group of young up and coming outfielders. If he's not happy being a part time player here how do you think he'd feel in Florida playing behind a bunch of kids with even less experience than our group as a whole.

As well Florida would never go for a guy like Sheets. Sheets has missed too much time the past couple of years for a team like Florida to take a chance on him. They simply couldn't afford to have a guy like Sheets go down. We are best to keep him now and into the future.
