Haudricourt reported around 11:30 AM that the morning storm in Milwaukee soaked the field because the roof was open:

The early rains in Milwaukee this morning caught the folks at Miller

Park by surprise, apparently, and the field got a bit soggy before the

roof operator made it in to work.

The warning track is muddy all the way around the field but the

grounds crew did a nice job of getting the field ready and the St. Louis

Cardinals are taking BP on the field as I write this blog.

Interesting that there's only one guy who can close the roof. That

makes him a pretty important dude, I'd say. Hope nothing ever happens to

him.

Anyway, the sun is peeking out now. Not sure if there are any plans

to partially open the roof as they did the last time there was a day

game here, thus helping the shadow problem. The outfield panels are open

so we're getting decent air circulation.

 

I've got to admit, I join TH in being surprised that only one guy can close the roof, if that in fact is the case.

 

Well, go Brewers. I doubt it's possible to top the overall entertainment/enjoyment value of one year ago today, but find a way to make it fun.

yep one year ago today was the triple play and the great walk off celebration. if we win on a walk off today, i would love to see the celebration again and just get the cards players and there fans all riled up.

No kidding. Maybe there was only one employee available during this holiday weekend...which still doesn't make sense, if a holiday weekend coincides with a homestand. If it really is the case that the roof can't move without one specific employee being present...I doubt that will be the case much longer after today.

 

I would consider an elaborate celebration vs. the Cardinals (if the situation warrants, which is probably a big enough if) to be crazy awesome, despite my personality being the polar opposite of "in your face."

It would be sweet if Pujols and Rasmus got into a fight during the game. I don't blame Rasmus for wanting to be traded. I'm sure the Brewers would take him.
