Takashi Saito to the Brewers?

I like the idea of adding a bullpen arm. Even though he'll be 41 (and we know how risky signing old relief pitchers can be), $3 million is a lot less than they paid Hoffman last year.

BTW, I just posted in another thread another reliever I like and that's Chris Ray who could probably be had for half the $3 million.

If true, I think this is a huge signing. He was the reliever I was hoping the Brewers would get. If he stays healthy, he gives us tremendous insuance at the closer position and will make our bullpen much better.

I can't help but think what kind of shortshop we could have gotten for $3 million... but this is a good signing regardless.

Did he have a lot of trouble with injuries last year? His stuff is filthy, and it doesn't look like he fell off at all last season. I like the idea of Saito/Axford for the 8th and 9th.

Hopefully this is true because I love the move despite the age.....heck, he's three years younger than Hoffman. Saito has solid stuff, and Hawkins doesn't exactly have a long track record of pitching well in high leverage situations. Saito would be a great backup plan if something happened with Axford.
