Takashi Saito activated, Tim Dillard Optioned to Triple A

Reported by McCalvy.

Seemed more and more likely the longer they waited to activate Saito, along with Gamel and Kotsay both in the lineup today. Imagine another pitcher will come up (McClendon?) when Gamel is sent down following the Minnesota series.

RRR pulled a fast one on us. What a joke. Dillard sucked but there is still no excuse for the crudtastic group that is Counsell, Kotsay, McGehee and Wilson clogging up room on the bench when we have the players in AAA waiting.

Remember a month or two ago when Roenicke was talking about how he was looking over our roster and thought to himself, "You know, this is a really nice bench."

That has to be the quote of the year.

I too, am frustrated, but will vent another time about the need for a pretty explosive bench makeover.

Miscellaneous notes --

The 40-man roster is now at 37.

That was Tim Dillard's final option. He was also optioned in 2008 and 2009. Of course, he could still be yo-yo'd this season if need be.

wasn't Dillard optioned to start the season? This question is asked knowing I have limited understanding of the option system.

I think they ended up wimping out on making the move they were contemplating.
