Sveum interviews in Boston; Cubs & Cardinals soon as well?

I hope Sveum gets the job if for no other reason than he always sounds like he has a mouthful of marbles whenever he is being interviewed.

Yes, supposedly he has been offered the Cubs job per John Heyman on twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/SI_JonHeyman/status/137019082452119552) and I have no animosity if he chooses to take the job. Reason #1 being that he doesn't sound like a very smart guy when he talks and I have a hard time believing you can be a good manager if you're not that bright upstairs.

Rosenthal also tweeted that Sveum has been offered the Cubs job. Matheny, now potentially Sveum. Are there any manager spots open for Pat Listach?

It sounds like Sveum will be the next Cub manager (especially with Maddux pulling out due to family concerns). I trust Hoystein on his calling. If they think he is the right man for the job, then who is to argue with them.

I got an idea...let's have more former Brewers I like manager our division rivals. How about Jeff Cirillo in Cincy? Mark Loretta in Pittsburgh? It's about time I start disliking them.

According to Tim Kurkjian on ESPN it sounds like the Red Sox really want Sveum too and might try and better the Cubs offer. I really like Sveum and I'll be sad to see him go, but I never thought he had a chance as a 1st year manager of these big market teams. Is there finally a shift away from the good 'ol boys/old school managers?

The hardest part of managing is getting your guys to play their hardest at all times, like how La Russa convinced the Cards they were in it when they were 10 games out of the wild card in August. The easy part is knowing that you should not start Mark freaking Kotsay in CF in the National League freaking Championship Series.

I'm happy for Sveum. It appears he'll have his choice of gigs. I appreciated his loyalty to us for so long. It takes a certain type of fortitude to go back to the team that passed you over and not let it become toxic in the years following. The only issue I have is this and Matheny in SL makes it harder to hate those teams.

Give it a break already. 96 wins, a division championship, the first post season series win in nearly 3 decades and second in manger of the year votes, all as a rookie manager, should be enough to eliminate this from every freaking thread.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
