Tim McCarver Wins Ford Frick Award

Love the first comment posted on the Hardball Talk article:

“Tim McCarver wins the Ford Frick Award for broadcasting excellence”.

I know what all those words mean, but they don’t seem make any sense together in the same sentence.

My first thought is that there must be someone out there who's more worthy. There are generally guys out there who aren't that well known nationally, but once you see the case for them, you jump on board.

 

The Hardball Times article says that Tim used to be good. I can't remember that.

It's a signal there were no other guys in their 70's that hadn't already received the award and they weren't ready to start naming guys still in their 60's. McCarver turned 70 in October.

 

It's always been a longevity award.

 

When Costas gets the award, I'll know I'm over the hill as he's my age.

On the same day that the Red Hot Chili Peppers get in to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Is this some kind of bizarro world?
