So, was that really Carlos Gomez going the other way (!) or was that Carlos Gomez a hair late on a fastball and putting it in play anyway?

Nyjer's Ks are up this year, but his BABIP is ridiculously low. I'd like to see more Aoki myself, but I think it's fair to say that Nyjer 's numbers will likely improve quite a bit.

Nyjer has 1500 PA against RHP with a line of .305/.357/.393. Aoki has 18 (very good) plate appearances this season. I also would like to see a little bit more Aoki, especially while Morgan is struggling (K rate up a little, hitting a lot of ground balls)....but I think calls to replace him in the platoon are premature. Each of the next two series are against 2 RHP and 1 LHP, if I had to guess we'll see each guy out in CF for one game (like happened this series). I'm more than OK with that, and then as the season goes on/samples get larger the team can adjust accordingly.

But I think over the course of a week (assuming no off days) we should more or less see Morgan get 3-4 starts, Gomez get 2, Aoki getting 2-3 starts (spelling Hart every other week or so)

Ninja, what is your love affair with Morgan. Even when he is hitting .305 it is with zero power and comes along with average defense and no throwing arm.

the latter. it was an inside pitch, he did a good job of fighting it off and getting enough on it to get it through (as well as not hitting it at anyone).

Scutaro has been playing like he doesn't know what's going on this series. Not complaining as a Crew fan, but he's made a bunch of mistakes that don't show up in the box score.

it's not a love affair. It's choosing to look at 1500 plate appearances instead of 45. And there's something nice about having a guy with a .357 OBP hitting ahead of Ryan Braun. I don't think you just yank a guy out of the lineup because he struggles for two weeks. But if you have an alternative (like Aoki) you start to work that in. Which is what seems to be happening, as well as what I suggested (Morgan should lose some starts for playing like this, just not ALL of them). If Morgan keeps struggling, you put Aoki in more (assuming he keeps looking good). If Morgan is still hitting like this in mid to late May (up around 120 PA), then Aoki better damn well be seeing more playing time.

Aoki looks very good so far, but I doubt he brings any power or better defense than Morgan (who is an above average defender).

File that under worst at bats of the year. Pathetic, Hart.

And what was Weeks doing almost getting thrown out off the bag on the previous line out no reason at all to be that far from the bag on that play. Just dumb.

And this is why you might want to give a guy a debut in a blowout

Yeah, it's just stupid to use him in a close game a day after they could've used him in a 6 run game.
